Default Engine Heater

I have been using a Competition Heat Deuce 2 engine heater for about two years now, but at the last race it quit working. I noticed that when I went to buy a replacement they seem to no longer exist. I had the AC version, and it looks like there are no AC options for engine heaters. Seems like the only option is the Protek DC heater, as any other brand I found is identical. I don't like the safety timer on the Protek version and I would prefer AC power. Am I missing some options, or are there really no other engine heater options?

What is wrong with using a simple AC/DC 12v power supply?
Also most current 2ch chargers have the option to set the 2nd port as a power supply

I can plug the heater into my power supply (if it is free) or wire it into my starter box, I just liked the simplicity of the AC heater. I wanted to make sure there were no options I was missing before I bought the Protek.
