Is there a difference between the 2 engines other than DLC coated crank? Might be interested in picking one of these motors up Rex. Just would need a mod for GT.

Not sure if ports are different but the coated crank is more then just a coating, itís a defining modification which is the reason for the price gap. I do not run engines without dlc coated cranks because they wear out to fast (maybe how I drive? Idk) but I have seen atleast 5 of my old engines with demolished rod bushings and crank pins and itís pretty obvious when my ninja bo1 still has a fresh rod and crank after 6 years of use, it hasnít had pinch in forever but still runs good. I was lucky with a few engines to get 4-5 gallons (os.28, picco) before they were damaged from rod pin wear. Iím pretty hard on the gas all the time like Iím riding a stock cr125 at southwick. Lol

Matt,

I love DLC coated cranks. I have a Ninja B02 that has been rebuilt more than once and an OS VZB speed 2 that keeps on going. The DLC coating makes a huge difference on wear. I would pay the extra for DLC knowing I can rebuild it with confidence. Even the DLC coated engine has a good price for around $379. Can't touch an OS for that price.

Picked up a 5K DLC for the race buggy and a 501R for practice, Anyone running these for 2019? Or is everyone running the Ty OS Speed these days? LOL.

My favourite combo so far after break-in is the 5K DLC and the Reds X-one 2104 pipe. I bet nobody has tried that combo yet!

I feel the same.
With dlc crank you always have the correct stroke, compression and timing.
and if you want, you can rebuild the upper area and have and engine like new.
