New break-in method

I'd be interested in seeing what kind of load that puts on the rod, rod bushings and crank pin with the engine being fully submersed in and I'm assuming filled with oil.

i was thinking the same thing Ron. It states they take temperatures in 2 locations so maybe the oil is heated or something. Kinda neat but I dont know if i would trust it compared to a engine that was actually fired up for break in.

The system look like a good concept. I didn't see any filtration or circulation of the oil. It seemed to suck in and out the same oil through out the process. It looked like any metal particulates suspended in the oil are sucked in and out and not evacuated. I could be way off. Still looks like a great way to eliminate the breakin process for the customer.

1. can't do it at home
2. sounds pricey
3. sounds like a way to knock out a conrod real quick
4. during break in you are adapting sealing surfaces to eachother, this requires heat cycling, also ideally you want to maintain operational temperature 100-120c, which is the range you will be racing at.
Not for me.

I agree.. A lot of effort to reinvent the wheel. It's like they say about the US investing millions to come up with a pen that works in space.., while the Russians just used a pencil. People need to lighten up about break-in and nitro in general. Doesn't need to be rocket science. Put five sensible heat cycle tanks through it then run it on the rich side for a liter or two and done...
