Hey guys I have a question about unlimited MT in the NCT..
It says no truggies, now I realize that this was formulated a year or so ago before a lot of production unlimited style trucks came around. Is it illegal to race rigs like the Hot Bodies LSP? What about the Mugen X5 MT or a JT? Techinically an ofna dominator is a truggy, but I have seen my share of those on the northwest tracks. Whats the defintion of a truggy now? I know everyone races in the same class, but there are production trucks coming of the mill that are pushing the limits of both MT and buggy. I think that when the truggy rule was written, they were more of wheel extended beasts rather than full on production rigs. Could someone throw me an anwser to this please?
Thanx,
James

Basically, I think Monster Truck is anything with the diffs below the chassis, and no center diff. Therefore, any kit based on 1/8th scale buggy design would be classified as a Truggy.
That's probably over-simplifying it, but there are certainly lots of production kits that are truggies, not Monster Trucks. Two very different classes of vehicle with very different lap times do not belong in the same racing class.
I would venture to guess that truggies will one day (maybe even next year) have their own class.

Clown Maxx;
There is a link on the first post of the 2005 Shoot-Out thread to the rules of the NCT Series. They also explain WHY the Monster Truck rules are the way they are. These rules were voted and approved at the end of the 2004 Series, for this years events. I think they also address some of the trucks you mentioned. Hope this answer your question a little bit better.
See you on the 15th!!!

I am hoping to see the truggies be allowed in the future also. Since the ST1 will be a truggy and I plan on owning one. The main problem I see, is adding another class to a weekend of racing is gonna kill some of us..... I love my hobby.

I see that at RCCCS' club meeting for the Hank, that electric bumps have been eliminated? Um, Um, Wasn't that a big discussion item at the 2005 rules meeting? and voted on and approved for the NCT? IT was for those of you that wasn't there. Please read first post of this thread. Isn't the purpose of the rules, so we know what to expect at all venues??

The first thing you'll notice is that we have reduced the series from 6 rounds down to 5. While we had multiple options for a round to be held in the month of March, we decided that it would be in the best interests of everyone involved to reduce the NCT from 6 down to 5 rounds to reduce the overall costs to the racers.
The next item you'll probably notice is significantly more time between rounds, including no NCT round scheduled for the month of June. This has been done to help promote club racing and also help the racers in affording to attend the NCT events.
ENTRIES
Entry Fees will remain the same for 2005 and will be no higher than $60 for 2 classes.
The NCT will not be setting entry limits. Each host facility will be setting their own entry limits for '05.
It should also be noted that NO ENTRIES WILL BE RECOGNIZED UNTIL PAID IN FULL!! An spot in a class will not be reserved for you until it is paid for.
MINIMUM CLASS SIZE
The minimum class size has been raised from 3 to 7 for '05.
ALL ELECTRIC CLASSES
All electric classes will utilize the 2 bump-up format used in nitro racing.
MAXIMIZER SUPER MONSTER TRUCK
No changes will be made to the Maximizer Super Monster Truck class rules for '05 other than to update the legal chassis list with Monster Trucks that have been recently released.
Truggies will NOT be legal in '05
1/8th SCALE BUGGY
Cut truck tires will not be allowed for '05.
MISC. EVENT FORMAT ITEMS
It will be the hosts option to segregate nitro and electric classes for qualifying. However, electric and nitro classes will be run together during the mains.
Qualifying format (Rocket Round/Qual-Points) will be determined by the host.
Seeded qualifying will not be utilized for '05
Triple-A mains and nitro main times will not change for '05

The above was originaly posted right after the NCT meeting in Cle Elum (1st post, this thread) where the NCT principles proposed, debated and agreed on the rules for '05.
I'm re-posting this so that the correct information is at least "re-freshed" in everyones memory. I know you are a button pusher/messenger

Additionally, the quoted post above were the changes from '04 to '05. It is unfortunate that the rules from last year were not re-written and updated to show the above changes for '05. That is something the current director should have done. Doing so would have eliminated any confusion on the rules from '04 that got changed for this year. That is why you found 2 different rules with regard to electric bumps.
In short, the above rules take presedence over '04 rules. That is what ALL of the attendees at the NCT meeting agreed upon.
