I have 2 nice Tamiya F1 chassis that I would sell, one is the F 104 V2 pro with some extra goodies, and the other is a very nice F 104 never ran outdoors, has all of the aluminum upgrades, a brand new carbon lower and a nice body, both are ready to race, just add your own motor and esc. Let me know if you're interested, I'll be racing at Sea Tac this coming Saturday.

In my limited experience, rule updates don't seem to be released until about a month before the season begins.

Usually as early as December/January. Check the TCS Racing thread, there's generally talk of it starting as early as now... lol.

This year's Galaxy TCS regional will take place on July 22nd; mark your calendar! The club race schedule should be set in March or April.

Here are the TCS rules changes (so far) for 2018:

1. The torque-tuned motor that's used in Euro Truck and Spec classes is limited to 23,500 RPM at 7.2 volts. I don't think this will be an issue at Galaxy since nobody has been doing anything special to their motors.

2. The Tamiya B3 premounts will no longer be used in the GT1 and GT2 classes on asphalt tracks like Galaxy. Instead, each track will choose its own spec tire. (I expect this to change again next year, after Tamiya USA works out a deal for TCS-branded premount tires with Solaris, the preferred tire at the Tamiya track.) There is a chart in the rule book saying that the spec tire at Galaxy is "RUSH Premium Grip Type 36X Premount". Mike assures me that this is NOT true. He's never heard of this tire and is still working things out with Tamiya USA. It would be a mistake to buy spec tires until Mike has them in the shop for you. At that point you'll know the choice has been made, but not before.

3. In Spec Novice class, you can run any Tamiya rubber tire on any Tamiya 24mm or 26mm wheel with any brand of insert. So don't throw out your B3 premounts, donate them to a novice driver! B3s will be far better than the rotten tires they used to run in this class.

4. In Mini class, Tamiya USA is no longer producing the 1016 S-Grip premount on the grey wheel. You are still allowed to use the 1016s, but you are also allowed to build your own, using 53254 tires, 54590 or 53255 inserts, and 51237 wheels. No double-stuffing. (Suggestion: For front-drive Minis, run the "super-hard" insert in the front tires and the softer "hard" insert in the rears.)

5. In F1 class, the ROAR legal 25.5 Reedy motor (12.3mm rotor) is allowed along with the previous Reedy 25.5 motor (12.5mm rotor).

6. In GT Pro Spec class, Tamiya USA is no longer producing the 1015 B3 premount on the grey wheel. You are still allowed to use the 1015s, but you can assemble your own B3 tires using any Tamiya 24mm spoked wheel and any brand of insert.

7. In Euro Truck class, any rounded "stick" style pack may be used. ESC and motor wires may not be shortened, all screws must be installed in the chassis, and you may add more foam to the front bumper if you wish.

Matt tells me that Galaxy have switched from RC Scoring Pro to LiveTime, which means that with an internet connection the race scoring information would become instantly available on your smartphone during the race day, and there would be no need to post results here as PDFs. Stay tuned.

Interesting rule changes.

I look forward to hearing what spec tire we’ll be using this summer.
