Adam, I am purely counting beans. But I have to say that we have had a tremendous support. I am humbled and amazed at the donations coming in. Here's the thing; we are not finished yet. The asphalt contractor is warming up the trucks and we still need to raise another $1835! These funds have to be raised publicly, we have no other way to generate the cash flow for this. Once it's up and running, we all can sit back, smile and enjoy. But for now, it's time for tough love. Reach deep. Invest in the future. We are almost there. (how cool that this is even happening?)
Brian

Pledged so far $18,715.00

$ Remaining to $20,550 $1,835.00

So cool! We had a few stalwarts of the NW rc scene step up today. Thank you gentlemen! We are that much closer. I feel like Jerry Lee Lewis shaking down the listeners for the change under the couch cushions. But we still need to reach that goal. Todd has worked hard and reached deep. Lets make this last step and make him feel proud of your support. Lets make the whole country envious! $550.44 to go!!!

Fine grading tomorrow. Paving on Thursday.

We've had money come in overnight, but we're just a little shy. Now is the time.

Anything over will be marked and saved for the track for the spring: paint, equipment rental, gravel, etc.

Glad to help.

Here is a link to photos I took at about 1pm today.

They may try to lay the asphalt down tomorrow but they weren't sure when I had left at 1:30. Tracy may have an update as he is there now.

I'll add more pictures to that album as we go along.

POW ! Its happening!

The crew is well aware that we need it butter smooth and they are doing an awesome job to get it there. Great choice of contractors Todd. So far, so great !

Piece of trivia. One of the guys laying the asphalt also did the asphalt work for the indoor asphalt track.

more pictures added at the link below.... some are pictures are in progress, the asphalt was still being "worked" so it will be flat. The stuff that was rolled looked perfect..

Default It's on!

Folks,

Super smooth! Threw down the 12th real quick as the crew where just done, water and grease and all still fresh on the surface. Ran the car around in big curved arcs, medium speeds and initial impression is very flat and smooth! The asphalt crew where smiling as they watched the car zip around...

There where several of us down at the track with a variety of cars...all smiles.

Today was a huge mile marker for the effort! It's going to be an excellent place to tune a track over the course of a summer. Traction and consistency for a club effort should prove to be very nice. Thanks to everyone who has helped on this.

Amazing, thanks for all of your effort Tracy! I can't wait to try the asphalt out myself.

Well...look at that! A track taking shape right in our own neighborhood

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the funding effort. We did it all on donations from local (and not so local) racers. And thank you to our partner in the effort and generous contributor of land, materials, and man-hours: the city of SeaTac. This is a great example of private citizens working with local government to build something for ourselves and the whole community. The city is proud of it, and we should be, too.

We still have work to do, of course, but I think it is safe to start believing. Believe it. It's actually happening.

Thanks to Jake and Tracy for being my eyes on the ground when I could not be there.

So I am thinking about getting some rope to lay out a track. Are we thinking pop for traction?

At the roar nationals just a month ago they used No track prep of any sort ( besides using a blower ) and traction was very race able and consistent . They had re sealed it a couple months prior. A non sealed fresh asphalt track will be significantly better as long as it's blown off.

Also , Just a thought, but the asphalt might cure more consistently if we let it be for now ( no soda pop or anything ). Best to bring a blower though, the leaves are already falling

I plan to be there today around 11:30-noon to run a few laps ....
