the intention of building this track was to make it a racing venue closer to seattle. Tacoma is a long way for some of us north end people. it will be nice to have a more centralized racing venue to go to.

It also would not have happened if the hard work of a few of the racers in the community did not do anything. it is design to be a racing track. not just a bashing track.

post flyers at the track for a couple of weeks before the race,,

so on may 26th the seattle rc club will be hosting a race at this track, the track will be closed on that day.

so if you show up and sit around for hours waiting to bash that's on you,

also on the flyer,

if your not familiar with Racing this will be your chance to come and watch and learn, maybe even join the fun if you like what you see.

we look forward to seeing you there and answering your questions....

have a good day

easy peasy, not a big deal...

This.

Guys, there will be more times that the track is open than there will be times when its closed. In short you will only be inconvienced at a set time per week or fortnight. I'm trying to remember, does modern AM require a separate AC power supply. If we get a laptop and a drycell we shouldn't need a plug.

That's the first hurdle though, an AMB system.

Default Updates

Offroad:
There is a whole big pile of screened dirt sweetness onsite. It's currently under cover. There will be a work party (or two) later in the spring when the weather breaks to build up the track. This is the original mix, screened to a finer mix, that has held up so well from the beginning. It has proven to be a good pick, and this batch is even better.

Additional work will be done as the weather improves.

Onroad:
I am in the process of engaging a civil engineer for help with design. This is a necessary step for procuring the appropriate permits. I can tell you that based on the site elevation and dimensions of the track area that I have decided to go with a continuous slab with a perimeter belt of grass and level grade permeable surface for paddock. The drivers stand will be located along 136th, similar to the offroad track.

Changing the Earth's orientation to the Sun is above my pay grade.

And having spent a few hours driving at the offroad track in different months and at different times of day, I can say that it's no worse or better than a west facing stand.

Liesure Hours in Chicago is south facing and I found it perfectly okay at Nationals held in August. Locating it on the south side is simply not an option. The offroad stand has worked brilliantly for a lot of reasons, not least being proximity to the street and a so far so good lack of vandalism.

To each his own...

Another down fall is spectators or cars driving by. You see drivers stand and not track and cars running. Sure you see a little but would be awesome for a full clear view street side of the track.

This has been a process of compromise and balanced perspectives. So far, I'd say it's come off very well. I'm not going to make perfect the enemy of the good. The parks department knows very little about race tracks. They know a LOT about parks, structures in parks, and maintenance of. Far more than I do.

I admit that the sun in the face isn't great, but with the right clothing and protection it's manageable. Personally, I'll take a new permanent onroad track no matter which way the stand is facing!

Agreed 110% but the reason must be good! The health of eyes and skin is way over looked IMO. I've spent more time looking into the sun then most people you have ever known. Shade is very nice and makes standing on the stand on hotter days so much nicer. If we'er going through all the trouble why not maximize greatness!

But hey if its easier to build the drivers stand facing south so be it... Just busting Todd's chops as he knows my opinion on this subject and wanted to see the reasons why the choice was made to do it again...

Mentioned before, but why dont we get one of those cloth overhangs? Either that or something that wont require going through parks dept.

Anyhow, I hope the work crews are announced via email as well? Do we also have a verdict on the lap counting system? If we need more donations to purchase another license and laptop would it go through the club treasurer?

Can't wait to break ground on asphalt...

Apologies if I rustled feathers RE competition days - I'm all for ease of entry to keep new people coming. Regardless, it'll be a fun day for all.
