Guys,
I wonder if Hangar-30 is out for 2012?
If yes where do you guys race on-road indoor or outdoor?
My nephew is coming in August just wonder where to see the actions, many thanks.

BTW, anyone knows if Mike Malkinson still race?
Thanks.

So whats the scoop? Todd alone shouldn't be required to organize work parties. Do you all want this to happen or not? What are the chances of getting us together for some work tomorrow or this weekend?

Why don't I take said initiative? No room for needed tools.

Sorry for the radio silence. I was off to Ski to Sea all weekend and have otherwise been busy with work and home stuff.

Here's where we stand.

The dirt that was imported is pretty well spread around, with some held in reserve for the area below the drain basin and also for around the west side of the site where some pit space is envisioned.

A couple of other important things are ongoing right now.

1. I am looking for more dirt, this time high grade sifted soil with which to top the existing base we now have and to build features. We have a budget for it. Kody and I were looking at dirt yesterday, and Kody was able to consult with Scott at TRCR about it. I think we're going to keep looking. One of the samples is the dirt from the Supercross track at CenturyLink. We're still scratching our chins. We don't want to rush an important decision or just get something because it's cheap. If anyone cares to check it out, it's in the yard at Lloyd's Enterprises in Federal Way. It's got a lot of clay, but also some fine silty type soil. We're not sure it's the right stuff. It would probably be awesome if it were consistenly damp, but we want to find a more all weather mix.

2. There is a drivers stand workgroup and they will be getting me a design and materials list over the next week or so (I hope! )

The next work party I am planning for is to clean up below the drain basin and spread some of the remaining dirt around. The Bobcat rental has been extended for two more weeks, so we have it at hand. I will have to drive it, unless another competent person is out there willing to throw in some time.

I haven't carved out a day for myself, yet. If someone else wants to pick it up in the meantime, that's great. Hack out the shrubbery and dump it on the side road. The park staff will pick it up. It's pretty simple. Otherwise, look for a date in the next few days. It will probably be fairly short notice as I am buried.

I'm planning on being over there Friday 6/1 sometime after noon. Will bring the chain saw, some loppers, rake and shovel, maybe my buggy just to have some fun. I will cut out some of the brush down by the drain basin and yard it over to the haul road. I also can spare some time over the weekend also if someone has more ambitious plans. Let me know. I feel like the summer is going to get away from us if we don't get moving.

I can help in the morn on Sat/Sun. Just will bring change of clothes for work (they have a shower there). If you can supply the tools, I can put the time in. As far as what to do.. all I can think of is removing as much of the rocks as possible and raking to get a smoother incline (when we get a roller that will do most of it though). I think the plan is to still use that leftover dirt for another layer and leave a bit behind as a bowl turn. In other words doing anything surface wise, may be moot. Maybe we could stake down the track area, pits, etc? LMK.

Ditto!

Okay, just got back from the track site. Really coming along well. I cut up a few of the laurel trees that were hanging over the drain basin but really not to much work.
It seems to me at this point we should have a group of interested folks and stake out the track, driver stand and pit areas. Once those are identified we can get to work on laying out the course and all the features. I can be flexible for time this weekend. Also if needed I'm willing to stop by and pick up a bundle of stakes and some twine. Just let me know.
I walked off a rectangle area of about 150' by 60' of open area today. Not sure what's been agreed upon with the city or others but sure has to potential of being a good size course.
Post a reply if this can happen this weekend. I've got a wheel barrel and other tools I can bring along.

I can help from 10-12:30ish Sat and Sun. You have to supply all tools though (sorry).

Confer with Todd or Kody if you can before we stake just so we are all on the same page. Tracy has a layout a few pages back, but the course size has increased since then and the drivers stand is planned over the drainage now.
