Default At Last!

Clearing has finally begun at SeaTac

I'm praying, stringing bones on the minivan side mirrors, chalking pentagrams on the back patio, facing east...anything I can think of just so they don't hit an underground tank and everything grinds to a halt. But, that aside...it's about time. The clearing contractors started this morning. Hopefully, they are done by tomorrow, but it could be until Friday. The geotech engineer consultants show up on Friday to do an analysis on the soil and slope for the drainage design.

On a side note, with some help from the flying club in SeaTac and truck from the parks department, we pulled three more rolls of turf out of Hangar 2. These are full length, and they were a b!#ch to load up. But, we got them out of there. One and a little extra is for the flying field runway. The rest is for the track. It's at the shop across the street from the site.

An underground tank would be a setback, but a spotted owls nest would be devastation.

The ground breaking is awesome news...congrats and thank you for all the effort Todd!

Default Day 2 Clearing

It's amazing how much progress three guys can make. It looks like they'll be done today. Here are some more shots of the action:

I'm so happy to finally reach this step. Truly, we've only just begun, but I feel a little bit like when my wife was at the end of pregnancy. Holy terror trips to the ER in the middle of the night with big contractions...and then nothing. Drive home and brew some Tension Tamer for a very crabby and still-pregnant female. Same thing tomorrow or in three days. Hurry up and wait. But you know, you know, when the water breaks she will have that baby. The joke's over.

The offroad track is being built first. It's what we have the money to do. An onroad track is still very much in the plans.

Look for the Seattle RC Racers on Facebook and join the group. I will confess that I haven't used the Facebook page as much as I could. I'm personally hit and miss on Facebook in general. We do have other administrators for Facebook, however. Hopefully, they can take up the task.

The club also has a website: www.seattlercracers.com Right now, though, it is in Hangar 30 mode. As we add race programs, we will add to the website. For now, if you want updates, check here and also shoot me your email: [email protected]
