Default Schedule/Weather/Make-ups

Hello Seattle RC Racers!

It's time for outdoor onroad racing at Seatac!

I want to create a clear expectation regarding our schedule, including our weather cancel and make-up efforts.

1. Schedule
Team Mason commits to the posted schedule: https://seattlercracers.com/seatac-rc-raceway/

In the very rare event that I cannot be there, Stuart is on tap to cover. In addition to Team Mason, Team Danilchik also commits to the posted dates, and like Stuart and me, Jake and Alex are dead certain to attend barring some legit family commitment or a personal emergency--which would probably involve family or broken limbs--to give you all a sense of the priority. None of us take it lightly.

2. Weather
Everyone watches the weather forecasts. For the record, the NOAA National Weather Service site is my main reference. I know of many others, but never mind posting alternatives--NOAA is the one on which I rely. Seattle weather is fickle, particularly in Spring--we know this. The default is always to try and race. I am completely prepared to wait out morning showers and get a later start.

3. Weather Cancels
Sometimes we can see what's coming, and it's not pretty. Optimism is always the preferred attitude, but we're not stubbornly averse to acknowledging the obvious. If the weather is looking sketchy, my last read of the NOAA site is at 3 PM on Friday. I will call Jake to check my conclusions, and then I will post a definitive yes or no to the race day some time in the late afternoon/early evening. If there is no post, assume it's a go. I will post here on the Tech, the club website, and the Facebook.

4. Make-up days
Our posted schedule is the schedule to plan on. If we miss a date for weather, I may or may not be able to schedule a make-up day. That said, I like to race as much as anyone else, and I invest in the expectation of a complete season. If I can, I will post a make-up day by Monday following the canceled race. If there is no make-up date posted, just slide to the next scheduled race day.

So, for Friday. We can all read the forecast and, yea, it's looking a little dire. But, things do change. I will take the last read on Friday, call Jake for a gut check, and then post the go/no-go.

Until then, keep the wrenches spinning and say a prayer to the race gods for a positive turn.

Default May 7 Onroad Canceled

I'm so sorry fellas, but this is not a quality race day forecast:

Saturday
Rain before noon, then showers likely, mainly between noon and 3pm. High near 53. Light south southwest wind becoming southwest 12 to 17 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Race canceled.

Thank you to Stuart for running the show. You are such a trooper! Thanks also to everyone else who helped make racing possible in our little slice of RC heaven.

I know it's a lot of work to step up and have a spec tire program, but I truly appreciate not having to hunt down the magic tire combination in the midst of supply chain uncertainty. This year was the perfect year to do spec tires, and they worked great. Thanks again for making a spec tire happen. See you next time
