For dirt, there's J&S RC Hobbies in Marysville.

Default 2021 Onroad Good to Go!

Hello Seattle RC Racers!

We are just over one month out from our season opener, and it can’t come soon enough. COVID guidelines applying to our events were updated on March 26. I have been in contact with the parks department and have received confirmation.

We are good to go for May 1!

I wanted to get the word out right away. Look for a set of COVID-safe protocols reflecting the governor’s updated guidelines later this week. By now, we are all trained up, so there’s nothing in it that will be a surprise. The big factor in our favor is that we are a 100% open air activity. The Phase 3 guidelines are straightforward. We won’t have a bunch of draconian requirements to work around, just the simple, common sense things you’d expect:
  • Stay home if you’re not feeling well
  • Wear masks when you’re up out of your pit
  • Give plenty of space on and off the stand
  • Minimize direct contact
We will add that a quick wipe of your car with a disinfectant towel—the body and chassis plate—is a good move that we will expect everyone to make. We do that for the corner marshals. Likewise, marshals should give their hands a quick rub of hand sanitizer before taking their positions.

Stuart and I will handle the race directing, so the microphone stays in the family.

But again, we’re in a good place. Outdoor racing! Yay!

I’ll get it written up and posted this week. In the meantime, start canvassing the globe for touring car tires. Hopefully, half the world’s supply isn’t in a container in the Suez Canal. That would be just the thing, right?

Look for a mid-April work party to clean up the track.

It’s time to start coming back to life! You’ve been missed. I’m looking forward to a wonderful summer.

I put moss killer (Ferrous sulfate) on the track grass today and spread some seed on the NW corner. Todd; does this mean you will not have tires for opening day?

Default Work Party, Saturday, April 17

Hello Seattle RC Racers,

Preparations for the upcoming season are gathering steam.

It's time for a work party.

Track Cleanup
Saturday, April 17
9 AM to Noon

Overall, the track is in very good shape. All the same, there is always Spring cleaning to do. Bring rakes and gloves. I will bring large paper garden bags. We'll rake, clean off the stand, weed whack, and beat back some of the foliage.

Other items:

Touring tires: The club has sold out of asphalt touring tires. Despite thin supplies around the globe, I know people are having luck with a variety of online vendors. They're out there. Personally, I found good sets at Stormer, as well as direct from Schumacher. In the case of Schumacher, even coming from the UK, the shipping fees and schedule were completely reasonable. I found Rush 32s and 36s.

Minimum weight for touring: 1320 grams

Portable toilets: Coming this next week.

That's all I can think of, right now. Getting closer!
