Default HERES A CRAZY THOUGHT

heres a crazy idea....

what if, there was a point series, where you raced for points and not finishing position. then you wouldn't have to have triple A's, thropys, and all the other stuff that goes with having mains. how about two qualifiers, ifmar starts, then 4 straight up races, best two of four are used to figure out actual finishing places which you get points for, FOR THE SERIES.

locals that are racing the series only because its at thier home track and don't plan on traveling will be there just for the fun of it. OR say its a five track series and you only make 2 races, then your points and finishing positions are dropped and the points are awarded to a person that actually does the whole series. At the end of the series, the TOP 3 in each class, get a huge big ass thropy that they have to have rent a trailer to get home.

and it should lower entry fees too.

just a thought.

now kick me in the nuts and tell me why this wouldn't work..

What is it about the current set up that doesn't work?

Does it bother you that a non committed local takes a position from committed racer?

Are you trying to lower entry fees?

Why is it that triple a mains are bad, but four not A mains with heads up start are good?

your 4 quals and a triples are safe. there not going anywhere so don't panic

never said the current setup doesn't work,

no it doesn't bother me if a local races and takes points away, been there and done it myself, just saying it is a point SERIES, so if not doing the SERIES why get points.

lower entry fees would be a by product of lowering the cost to the tracks

did I say triple A's were bad, no i didn't, in fact if it weren't for Triples I wouldn't have a very special plaque on the shelf.

what i was getting at is, do we really need 4 qualifiers, and 3 mains. cutting it to two quals and having 4 mains means we spend more time "racing" each other then 'racing' the clock, we also cut one round which saves time

I was just thinking out loud, I do that sometimes.

you and me fred, were going quick

one thing they did at the IIC which was pretty cool was...... instead of bumping from the d to c, or c to the b or b to the a, whoever had the fastest race, either D, C, or B, got the last spot in the A.

World Speedway (SGP) has always run for points,it is possible for the winner of the feature event to score less points than the second place finisher, works for them. Go to the speedway grand prix to see how it works, while your there, watch some of the main event videos-it's REAL racing at it's best!

I like the system they are using. Earn points in the heats/quals then double the points in the final/main. I noticed the 3rd place guy had more points than the 2nd place guy. Could be a fun one to try out at an event. 3 heats Saturday. LCQ on Sunday morning then semifinals and finals. Top 3 in each race get points.

Just make it all one class and use the Reedy Invitational rules.

Here's to add to your madness. Everyone must run PT's find a spot on the outside of the track (unless there is no wall to stand around), and just see how many laps you can get in 5 minutes. Once done, pull that group off and put on another group. Do this twice and run one main with the fastest laps in group 1 and so on......

When you hear the tone to start the race, you have to do 100 yard dash to get to the drivers stand. After you finish your race, you have to carry the egg on a spoon around the pit area twice, if your egg breaks you have to face the "eliminator".
