Kevin was right... yeah 1/8th scale electric is alive.... well almost. rick worked his magic on he conversion and we put it on the carpet this morning. we have the SP 8th speedo and 3.5T motor running 4s lipo. we did not heed the warning regarding the speedo only rated to 11.0v with the 3.5t. so we had a thermal shut down and may have scrambeled the brains on the speedo. but WOW, should be very cool with a 4.5 or 5.5. Never fear we have a couple more that will be here tomorrow so we should still have the prototype on the track this weekend.

Thanks for the replies. I had tried the number people gave me three times and each time it gave me a "this number is no longer being used" message. Tried a fourth time and got thru.

So Mark/Rick, you will have to keep us posted on the E1/8th scale. I think that a fast lap with a .21 powered rig could do a low to mid 15, right? Let's see if you can get close. That would be impressive! Love to race with you guys this weekend, but I have this family thing that may only leave Sunday open. We'll see.

will do, I have a couple on my phone will up load later. also took a quick video last night. see if I can get that up also.
very cool ran the whole pack down last night, but the carpet track to small to get spooled up, and it seems to run a bit warm.

weekend update
Outlaw GT 17.5 lipo, lilac tire 200mm class. They are incredible, just fast enough to run the whole track, Darren got into the low 19's yesterday adding about 4 teeth from his indoor setup, 30,000 damper fluid white pod spring red fronts, and fairly big tires..... just great easy to drive, and 110 degrees after like 8 to 10 runs.
MOD GT: we have the 235mm cars running 5.5 or 4.5's and either DB pink or lilac fronts with Pink rears, I kept the same carpet setup with 50,000 damper fluid green rear pod springs, red fronts, 30 weight shock oil, stock spring. We are talking insane performance with Andy yesterday getting to a 16.0 lap. Still trying to get a handle on gearing Andy lost a speedo or two yesterday, (may have had a bad motor to start with), and then finally on his 16.0 sec runs melted a motor down , but it was pure gearing issue. These things are insane, should get 8 to 10 min run time. and flat out get around the track. The current track record is 15.2 in a 8th scale. 15's are coming easy soon, the track was green, the day was cool.
more info as we get outdoors more,
8th scale elec conversion of our Mugen MRX3. whoa now this has got potential. already into the 15.'s and 10 plus min run time. just need to get speedo/motor temp and gearing issues under control.
we had speedo #1 melt and smoke at the carpet track with the 3.5T motor just trying to set trim and a couple easy runs??????? probably exceeded the capacity of the speedo at 14.4v but was pulling no trigger really.
Speedo #2 with 5.5t motor well below the SP limit of 4.5t with 14.4v. ran good and made some light runs on the carpet track. think we had a solder issue on the motor and had the B, C wires touch. did not notice. took to the outdoor track and made only a straight way length came to stop. think motor/speedo is gone because of the solder short out.
Speedo #3/motor #2 5.5T ran great for short runs but we were gun shy from our past motor speedo destruction. solder fine, must go through the holes in motor tabs so the wires down move when the solder/motor gets hot. so we took it slow seeing low speedo temp on top, but the capacitors on the side of the ESC were like 130 to 140, still nervous we started going down on gearing, could tell we went to a point where that car was maxed out on the straight 2.77 ratio, we started at 2.50 went to the 2.77 went to 2.66 tried 2.61 better. Motor temp always seemed to stay around 120 130 capacitor temp around 130 140 ESC heat sink around 80 to 100.
so we went for it and went back to 2.55 and went for the test with Richard in his Nitro MRX3. WOW.... what a amazing test to see how the Elect just launches off the corner, and drives like any 8th gas car. top speed just a tiny bit down, temps on speedo same, motor temp 140. 15.'8 sec laps and just the coolest thing to watch. then at about 8 minutes the motor said enough
and completely smoked and locked up,(actually looked pretty cool) thought it may be speedo but the motor was smoked and around 210 230. really must have climbed in those last couple minutes.... but this was an all out test with full trigger and racing with the gas car.
so I think if we can get the 4.5t motor's 4700kv opposed to 3590kv of the
5.5T and keep the speedo temp under control we will make the gas cars nervous. we are waiting for the RX8 to show up from Tekin which is rated to 6s lipo and possibly looking at some Neu motors.
Man that was a very productive and expensive test and proto type, but pretty rewarding when you pulled the trigger of that silent killer.

I also added the front chassis brace, It took some of the steering out to keep the rear planted to the track. I may try a stiffer spring in the front the car still doesn't like the tighter corners or maybe I was trying too hard lol.
