13.5 1/12 interests me, sounds fun for somebody like me who couldnt hack mod lol. I had thought about making saturday gym my pan car days and then have some taxi cab sedan fun on wed, but that all depends on what classes are having strong turnout

Just speaking as an individual, the club "green light'ed" the 2nd track at the Hangar for a couple of reasons: to keep our foot in the door at a great location and to potentially gain a nimble travel track. A nimble track means 36x80. while you could drive mod on that track, it's not going to be much faster then stock. We as a club, need to raise about $3500 just to get this 2nd track up and running. If it was to be a full blown 48x100, that cost would jump to $5000. We are also rolling the dice that folks are going to show up for both venues and financially sustain each track. We think it will. But we also want to set ourselves up for maximum potential and that is setting classes that folks are really going to enjoy and support.

I like 13.5 12th scale. I bet it would fit the Hangar very well. It's very conceivable that a driver could pluck the 17.5 out from Sat Night and solder up the 13.5 for some Wed night bull ring action and back without much tuning.

That's my thinking, we have some good talent in 17.5, although they might not be ready to pull trigger on a mod, 13.5 is a good manageable fast class, more driver less of a motor battle, if anything It will pay off for practice, I can even count how many people I heard last year asking about practice nights, a 3 qual Wednesday would be awesome for that!

Where do we send donations for the new carpet, and when do we need it by?

Being that I (Brian Bodine) am elected head bean counter for another term, I can handle any donations as well as Todd. We haven't quite discussed how we want to go about raising funds yet being mid way through June, but I will push that to the front of the pile. Our target will likely be later Aug for carpet delivery. That's assuming the storage room is back up and accessible after the remodel.

Practice. Everyone wants it. How do we provide it? I am sure that with our dedicated group, we could have a crew come in and set track. The problem we run into is the departure. Guys will trickle out to avoid tear down. You know it's true! The building will require rent if its even available. That means we'd have to charge, say $20 a head, to cover the rent. As we know the 45 minutes we get on race nights of practice is pretty rough. It's more of a quick shake down instead of full term runs. Some structure would have to be created for practice sessions if we were to set up a day.

3 heat Wed nights with a 7pm start? Not sure that will fly.

That's why I suggested limited classes. Structure the program to maximize class depth, to get the most racers in the fewest heats, and somewhat discourage multiple classes per racer.

Novice =5
2x 1/12 =16
2x scale spec =12
1x f1 =6
2x Stock touring = 12
45 minutes of racing, with a strict 2 minute clock, snooze you lose.

With 8 cars per heat, that's 64 entries.

But I guess that's an hour per round. So with re-sorts, and setting up mains, you're starting mains at 10:30. And I guess the 2 minute clock is wishful thinking.

Oh well.

If there's one thing this club knows how to do, it's a Wednesday night program. The memory isn't so faded that we've forgotten what to do. The basic program will be what it was, and what worked very well for years.

5pm Track Build
7pm Q1

2 quals and a main.

Tables and chairs provided.

ROAR membership required.

Sound familiar? As for classes, now is the time to make yourself heard.

(That said, I will candidly submit that the chances of our race night including the storage, portage, and construction of a rock crawling thing are remote. As in deep space pulsar remote. Kate Upton as trophy girl remote.)

As Bodine outlined, the track will be 3 rolls. Yes, it's smaller than what we run in the gym. But, that does not mean we can't run some fast cars on it. Snowbird Nationals in Florida features some of the fastest mod driving you'll ever see. That's a a 3 roll track. Which is not an argument for anything in particular, other than an open mind about what classes are suitable for the setting.

One goal we have from a design standpoint is that the track be lightly and rapidly deployed. A 20-25 minute track build (we've absolutely done it) translates into an hour and a half of open track before Q1.

July will be our fundraising month. It's just around the corner. (There's this little project north of the airport I'd like to get to a certain place before shifting concentration.)
