Has there been any decisions on what else (if anything) besides carpet TC may be happening in the Hangar? There was some discussion of opening it up to drift cars, or possibly carpet offroad or maybe even crawlers. I realize it'd be based on the interest/turnout for those classes, but is something going to be announced to the public to measure interest?

We're working on a program, think pretty typical carpet shenanigans.

I'll claim ignorance on drifting. Is that typically done on concrete, asphalt or can it be done on carpet? Is it timed using the scoring system? Is it based on style or technique? Or in other words; is there any benefit to drifting on a prepared road course?

I can not see us hauling in some rocks to set up a crawler course and charge admission to cover rent when that already exists "outside" and it's free. But hey, I could be wrong, it could be huge!

The club is going to purchase carpet, 3 rolls by 80' or 36x80. There have been rumors that the floor may get flattened out somewhat, but that is yet to be seen. We are not counting on that. So consider those parameters when making class selections.

Now would be an excellent time to chime in if there is a favorite class of interest as the Comp Com is sitting around the proverbial round table hashing out classes for the two venues.

I claim ignorance too on drifting and crawling, but the club has "racers" in the title and to me those activities are not racing. Crawling does not seems condusive to a temporary indoor setup, left up for a few hours..

Drifting would likely tear up the carpet.

It could probably be done on the bare floor on the other end, but might damage the tennis court finish.

With a smaller track, I'd say Novice, Scale Spec, 1/12 17.5, F1, and done. Maybe 21.5 or 17.5 touring. Pack the heats (or light turnouts) to fit 3 qualifiers and single mains. The extra track time would do well for our newer racers.

More feedback the better, please keep it coming.

One thing I heard several times from last year was "transparency" in terms of what we as your competition committee was thinking and working on. I am going to do my best to post once in awhile explaining what we're doing, summarize our internal discussion and read the feedback you provide.

We've just started getting started again so there is little to report other than talking about what still needs to get done at Seatac, and this subject about classes for each night.

If there is a rule you think needs adjusted, let us know what you think about that as well.

I have a question.

Of the existing 1/12 racers, would anyone be seriously interested in a 1/12 13.5 class (super stock) on Wednesday nights? Would this cause some of you NOT to run 1/12 Wednesday nights?

A fella by the name of Phil Gordon used to spend hours at TRCR (the old location) "drifting" on the carpet, but that was way before it was called drifting and was cool, no damage to the carpet what so ever.

careful on what we call "racing" remember, gasoline is for cleaning parts, alcohol is for drinking, and nitro is for racing... one mans race is another mans nap time..
