Hey dudes!
First I wanted to thank everyone for a great race! Thank you for posting the videos too; those are great fun to watch. I'm glad I was able to stay awake for the mains this time haha!
Anyway, I was wondering what people think of the Hobbywing XERUN V3 ESC? I would post on the Hobbywing thread, but I trust you guys more (and know many of you in person for more tips).
Right now, I run the Speed Passion ProStock, but was thinking of upgrading as I have a birthday coming up. Also, the Hobbywing can handle mod motors in case I want to step up to that class (the ProStock only runs down to a 9.5T). Any thoughts? How are the brakes on the V3 speed control? Has anyone run the esc with success? The other option I'm considering is the LRP Flow, but I'm leaning toward the Hobbywing.
I was also looking into SMC LiPo batteries. The prices seem too good to be true! About $50 or $60 for a good LiPo pack. I'm not sure if my Thunder Powers are worn out (they are over a year old now). So I was wondering if anyone has tried the SMC batts?
Thanks!
Peace,
Sam

If you want to pay only half that cost the revention pro is pretty sweet. That's what I have in my car right now. They are easy to setup. And only $116 when I bought mine.

The HW 120 1S esc has brakes that will stop a freight train. Best I've ever felt. I do not own the V3 only because it requires a rx pack for 1S. Get your TP packs tested. One year is really not that big a deal. Storing them full or completely dumped is.

so supposadly tekin put out a 25.5t redline gen 2???? scale spec able?? its listed in the website but not in the article kinda confusing

Sam,
Brian makes some great points. Always storage charge your batteries after your done using them for the day. I'm sure you are but it's great info for the rest.
You can't go wrong with Reedy or TP. Both stand behind there products 110%. SMC has been great at times...

Forgot the ESC question. The HW is great but guys talk about having problems with the brakes. The new Flow is amazing. Last Saturday was my first outing with it. Super easy to get right for Mod and was super smooth. 5.0 in blinky mode had plenty of easy to handle rip. I'll be testing out an ORCA at some point as well but from how it felt in Keith's car I'd buy it over the HW if your not interested in the LRP.

I have a v3 in my touring car and the brakes are outstanding. Best I have ever used. Never had an issue with them in stock or mod. I know Sean will kick me out of the Lrp pit but it is way better than the tc spec or stock spec sxx v2. I have not had a chance to use the flow or new board in the Lrp yet so I can't make a report on those.
I agree with Kody you can't go wrong with TP or Reedy batterys. Started out using TP and switched to Reedy over the summer. No complaints, love the new Reedy packs. Just got the new Reedy 1s and it's the shizzz.
BTW my TP packs are still good and they are 2 to 3 yrs old.
