I didn't want to bring up this topic in that thread announcements, so it can be hidden in here. Im thinking about taking the weekend off for that Hangar event if I can get it.

Is the 13.5 not recognized by ROAR as a class?* Or more any ROAR event cant offer it? I saw the 17.5 and "sportsman" esc for stock 1/12th on the flyer and thinking that pretty much kills all the local drivers equipment.

Is it because trying to run it all in two days and something had to drop? Could a 13.5 class be stenciled in and compare to how many sign up for it versus the normal stock (or alternatively a 13.5 versus mod class)? Then bar one or the other class depending on sign ups. Obviously if the proposed rules are being used. Two 1/12ths will be required of each racer if they want to do both classes versus one.

Also if the new proposed rules are being used, doesn't that mean there is still the possibility of change before the go into action? From what I have seen there seems to be a large bit of blowback of forcing non firmware upgradable esc on the masses thus requiring 2 escs for each car type (and many instances then 2 cars) and a new stock esc war every year.

*NM I See its listed as Expert Stock.

I'm going to assume that the word, Profile was left off the flyer, i.e. to read

17.5 BL (sportsman profile esc)

Its the "proposed stock class rules for 2012" thats throwing me off since last I heard firmware esc would be illegal? If not, can I rent someones 17.5 for the weekend? I would treat it with respect (and going in a 1/12th not likely to overheat and damage the rotor).

if your speaking of the thread on the electric on road fourm...."proposed 2012 rule changes" it has nothing to do with this race. other the 2012 stock sedan 21.5 class, which is not a thropy class is I assume is being run at this race as it will be a class at Nationals and it also will give the scale spec guys a change to race.

besides, this is still 2011 and any rules for 2012 don't apply.

"Sportsman ESC" is any ESC that is on the sportsman approved list. You just need a non timing speed control that is approved.

The 2012 no firmware ESC is a proposed rule, meaning it isn't in the books. It's all forum talk at the moment.

Same rules we run now just different motor (for 1/12 and regionals)

With 21.5 you'll be heading near 3.0 FDR .... 3.24 is probably appropriate or pretty close, with the layout we have now basic motor horsepower is less of a concern, gearing is everything.

Can anyone else running 21.5 share some gearing info on what you're running at the moment, FDR wise?

I ran a couple packs at NORA today with a 21.5 geared at 2.9, with a speedpassion motor, so around a 3. 3.2 may work depending on motor and I'm sure you'll have the motor timing cranked all the way up. SP only goes to 10
