Hi guys,

I may be down in WA for the holidays. Is there racing around then?

I've only viewed a couple pages, if you don't mind giving me a quick breakdown of how, when and what you guys run I would really appreciate it.
Just found your website, http://seattlercracers.com/, looks like a lot of questions answered there.

How strict are spec tire rules?

Thanks,

John Tsang

Hi John,
Edit: are you talking about spec *class* or stock/ mod touring spec tires ?

I've got a new set of spec [ class ] tires you can use while you are here. If you are talking about the sweep QTS spec tires I have some used ones you can use.
Look me up at the track , I go to most of the Hangar races.

Jake D.

Well your not alone in your thinking about the tire. I think they suck.

Back story.

Shuie on carpet, spec sorex 28, flip monster, I have to CA the sidewalls not to flip and sometimes I do anyways. Fight like hell to get the car to work. Along come jaco blues, oh happy days are here again. Now onto sweeps. Flip monster has returned. And I'm talking when grip was "low". Fine park it let's run something else. Seems to me if the tire choice is gvoing to be open for the NWIC, then maybe it should be open for club races. The arguement has already been made that tire choice doesn't matter

I was sort of surprised that we didn't go with a "preglued" rule allowing Jacos, Sweep, or Solaris tires. I know there were some grumpy over having to buy new tires and toss their Jacos.

I like the Sweep better. They don't blow up as often as the Jaco, period. Also they have a more usable sidewall which is maybe where your having issue. Get the tire off the sidewall and it's less prone to roll over. There is conventional, normal setup knowledge out there that will make your car work and isn't the "funky setup" that someone mentioned that is needed to make the car work. My car is running a conventional XRAY setup and it doesn't flip. It did at Timezone on the Solaris rubber and I fixed it, using simple setup adjustments.

There is nothing wrong with discussing things, Sean. You shouldn't feel like your being political or weird, we are all big boys and (most of us) friends. We can talk about this without anyone getting butt hurt (hopefully).

Hugs and kisses,
Wes

A little hug every now and then is okay but keep the kisses (except if they're from Crozier)....

If hugs and kisses lead to a hurting butt, I'm out.

Guys, check your beads on your TC tires. If the bead starts to pull away from the rim AT ALL it significantly increases the likelihood of traction rolling. Also, a very well worn set of tires (think 4 race days or more) is much more likely to roll. The rubber gets thinner, the sidewalls break down, they get inconsistent and actually roll easier. My T3 doesn't have any settings to prevent traction rolling, yet it never wanted to flip. Neither did Peter's. Check your tires

That being said, I still agree we should try not spraying the track next race day. Also more practice = more better
