Yeah - the epoxy trick I used last time did something elemental to the plastic so its breadstick brittle in that area now. That simply wont cut it for a loaner, so I will take the gorilla foam under advisement and assemble something better.

There is something fascinating about science. One gets such wholesale returns of conjecture out of such a trifling investment of fact.

edit: That wasn't me. That was Mark Twain. I would have said you F'd it up.

Next week is going to be so awesome. Two onroad race days, and Bungie releases new Halo3 maps. Nerd-tastic!

Default 1/12th Pit Box Stuff

BTW, I am clueless with NiMh batts so will need a refresher.
All 1/12th drivers worthy of the label will keep the following in their box:

1. Wrenches

A set of SAE hex wrenches 0.050", 1/16", 5/64" and 3/32". Even on cars that are metric, like my 12R5, there are still some SAE screws. Duratrax and Dynamite both make good, affordable sets with replaceable tips that are available at most hobby shops.

You should have 3/16" and 11/32" nut drivers for the front wheel and the rear diff nuts.

And a good Phillips head screw driver for the front end.

2. Ride height and camber gauges.

3. A long, 12" at least, charge lead. I cut mine in half, splice with a Deans, and have alligator and male Deans leads for my different batteries.

4. Invest in a set of IRS ride height adjusters. As far as I know they still work in every car out there, with the exception of the Serpent, I think. I store these in a Sunday to Saturday pill organizer from the drug store.

You'll accumulate more stuff, of course, after you settle on your own car. But the above is pretty universal and won't go wasted in any event.

The batteries don't require much maintenance. You could even just leave the one pack in for the night and recharge it for each race. But you're getting three packs to include practice and give you a backup.

Hey Todd ~ I'd like to extend a public thanks for your generosity last Wednesday night. I really appreciated you loaning me the TA05. I had no idea on road was so much fun. I look forward to participating in future club events so if the TA05 is still available as a potential loaner vehicle I would be delighted to use it. I'll even get some deans plugs setup for my lipos and chargers so I can be a bit more self-supporting. Looks like I need some tire sauce too. In the meantime, I'm cleaning up one of my RC8 chassis to sell and hopefully get enough to invest in my own TA05. I'll need you to take a quick look over my tools and supplies and let me know what I'm missing. Hopefully a lot of it will cross over or my budget meetings with my wife are going to be brutal!

I think I need to increase Matthews car from 1500g to 3500g to keep him from getting run off the track.

It's instructional to see these, because that will be MY car getting hammered from passing traffic next week....

Default Thats great

That is awesome Shaun. You are my favorite hobby shop and now another excuse to go in. Happy day for sure. Lol. GF might not think so. Do you have an idea when some paragon might be in? Need some by Wed. Thanks again.
