In the garage with Pandora world beats, drinking a homebrew IPA.

The diffs are rebuilt. Foams are squeaky clean. Lipos are charging. Tubes are lubed. Bearings are flushed.

And the pork, ahh yes...the pork is cooking.

Let's race!

Default Road Trip: Victoria Nov 20th

Guys,
This summer I went to the Irocc Race up on Vancouver Island to do some gas touring racing. I met up with Blake Bell and a host of other club members. It was a great experience and well worth the effort it took to get there. It truly was a undiscovered gem and some very stout competition. Unfortunately, our paths never cross unless we take the effort. When talking with Blake about their carpet series, I was shocked to find out that they race every Sat. That they get almost 50 entries. That it's a temp track just like ours. That it's on an island. And that they offer only one class! I was impressed, to say the least.

So here's the deal: We have coordinated a date that we would like to get a group of H30 drivers to pay our neighbors to the north a visit; Nov 20th.

The class: 12th 17.5 boosted.

The Venue:
4:00PM Track setup
4:45PM Open practice
6:00PM Q1
7:00PM Q2
8:00PM Q3
9:00PM Mains with bump ups
10:00PM Track teardown
10:30PM Door prize giveaway
11:00PM Dinner at Boston Pizza

The Track:
75'x36' CRC Ozite with CRC Click Track
The layouts are slightly more intricate than a typical 10th scale sized track which makes 12th Scale a lot of fun. We raced last Saturday night and the fast lap was an 11.4s lap. (I'll find out what sauce they use)

Blake's Insight:
One thing to note is that, because the track is not permanently down, the available traction changes throughout the night. During open practice the track is fairly "green", and traction doesn't start coming in until the end of Round one. Most of us run CRC ProCut GreyLo rears and CRC ProCut Black fronts, and for club racing, I start them at full diameter and run them down to the rims (takes about four club race nights to wear them all the way down).

The Plan:
This is a "must stay overnight" due to the ferry schedule. Ferry's can drive the cost of this trip up, so we should make carpool plans. Some of the local racers are willing to open their homes to over night guests, I know that I will be willing to return the favor when the time comes. I need to get the track location so that we can Google or Mapquest it and then find a suitable hotel should some need that.

Travel:
There are two routes to take: take the Edmonds-Kingston ferry to PA and then get on the Coho Ferry to Victoria estimated at 4 hours 45 minutes at $92 one way. Edmonds charges for additional passengers only one direction. The other route is drive up I-5, do the border, take the Tsaw-Swartz boat and drive south down the Island, estimated at 5 hours 30 minutes (from Edmonds) at $65 one way (not aware of any additional charges for passengers). I will research some boat schedules to come up with some departure times from our area and post them up.

Passports!
You will need them or the new enhanced drivers license. If you don't have one and want to attend, you will need to get on that task right away. I recall Passports taking about 3 weeks, but don't take my word for it. If you don't have means to get over the boarder, don't jump on board the bus and jeopardize the trip for the others.

Equipment:
I will find out what we need in the way of tables, chairs, plug strips, cords, etc.

The Club:
You can find some more info about the Victoria Club at: www.irocc.ca Many of these guys want to attend the H30 EEC in March. This will be a great exchange for our two clubs

Roll Call:
If you are interested, you can contact me. We'll certainly need some vehicles for carpooling. I know Todd said he's got the Odyssey idling in the driveway already. I have an Astro that will easily do 4 + gear. I would like to get a head count in the coming weeks so we can give the Vic Guys a heads up for lodging. If you think you're going to wussy out at the last second, please don't bother (sorry, don't have a polite way to put that).

There will be several more details to come, but we just have to get the idea out there so guys have time to deal with their passports. This will be a blast and well worth the effort, plus it's just gonna be fun! You can PM me or email me or call.

Brian

Sent it to you again. PM me your email so that I know I've got the right address.

Also, a few guys are getting them kicked back because the list is getting quite large. Some spam filters aren't liking it. We may need to go to a forum through the club's website.
