Default Pan Car Benchcraft Seminar, Wednesday, September 22

As a service to our club members, and to bring along the skills of racers new and old, the club is hosting a benchcraft seminar for pan cars on Wednesday, September 22, from 7-10pm. This seminar is free, and will feature the instruction of two of our finest pan car racers: Brian Bodine, and Mike DuTemple.

It will be held in the Garden Room of the Brig, the building immediately east of Hangar 30. We will be in a classroom setting with tables and chairs for everyone. We plan to have a soldering station, tire truer, tweak stations and other tools on hand for everyone to use. Our goal is to get all attendees set up with a perfectly balanced, neatly laid out car for their season. Come with your car built, but otherwise as it is, and leave with a perfected machine with the input from our finest practitioners of the craft.

Thanks for this Todd! I'll bring the car and other stuff in whatever form I can get it into by then. Any chance Slapmaster thrust bearings for the RC12R5 will be for sale then? If so I won't worry about sending that e-mail I've been meaning to get around to...

Im not trying to be cutting edge but I know from experience with 1/12th you cant be cheap on your esc if you want to have a good run power wise through 8 minutes.
I don't know if it'll be good but it is cost effective. I picked up a remanufactured Havoc Sport 1S direct from Novak for $73 plus shipping. No boosters or external receiver packs needed.

That will be a fine ESC, Charles. Good choice.

But...you will need the low profile heat sink. It fits fine in a WGT as is, but in a 1/12th, it's too high.

Or, you can grind it down, which is not a problem at all, if you're comfortable with that. I did it to my old LRP. The nice thing about the Novak is that the heat sink comes off.

That's the one thing that wasn't remanufactured that I orderd from Novak. Looking at it I can tell that it really was a full height heatsink that had been cut down. Could have done it myself now that I see what they sold as an accessory but they did a good, clean job job on the machining and saved me the time/mess of doing it.

I will do my best to bring some sales product with me. This seminar is car prep and tuning, not a sales opportunity for my benefit. But I do appreciate the support!

Thanks again for the kind words. I feel that I have really achieved a major milestone in my 26 year rc career (finally). There are so many talented drivers in our area that have achieved greatness, I will always have the utmost respect for them. And they have done it in a far shorter span then I have. I've said it before, I am a product of everyone I race with.
