Seattle RC Racers/Hangar 30

Tech Apprentice

I just wanted to say thank you to all those involved in the organization of The Shop race this past weekend. A truly unique venue, excellent track layout and amazing organization and execution of the race program. In 40 years of RC racing it was truly a highlight.
I also wanted to personally thank the 1/12th scale guys who were very willing and open to share their wisdom and made my weekend racing a class I have been wanting to race since I was 10years old a reality. You guys have an amazing culture in your club.
Cheers

So glad you joined us!
You raced well. We respect your skills. Our paths will cross again. Stay sharp!
Also. I remember looking at Tower Hobbies catalogs as a little kid. I loved the 1/12th scales. I didn't really understand what I was looking at. But they seemed purposeful, intended for serious racing, and fast. It's so fun now to race them with a club of capable drivers.

Wanted to ask if the group still meets on Saturday at Hangar30 for RC racing around 7pm and will they race tomorrow March 18th? I used to race around 6 years ago at the hangar.
thanks,
Pinkesh
thanks,
Pinkesh

No.
They cancelled the Saturday program that they ran at the community center and only race in the Hangar on some Wednesday nights. Indoor season is over both here and NORA.
Outdoor season is up next at North SeaTac park.
Also most communication has moved to Facebook.
I have nothing to do with it but do know that… 😀

Worth noting for Wednesday night fans, March 22 will be the last indoor race of the season at Hanger 30. See seattlercracers.com for schedule.

Hi Pinkesh,
We race at Hangar 30 every other Wednesday night (give or take) through Fall and Winter.
Our last race of the season is this Wednesday. Track build at 6, racing at 7.
Great to hear from you again!

Any outdoor events going to be happening in or near portland this year? What are some of the facebook pages to follow? Any help is appreciated wanting to travel this summer and be a better racer

Your Wednesday night race fix is back for its 14th year. We will have a meeting to discuss the classes, though I don't forecast any surprises. I'm there for the 1/12th scale, same as ever. We're planning to host The Shop race again, as well. Pencil it in for President's Day weekend.

Hangar 30 Pre-Season Func at the Wedgwood Broiler

7 PM
Come talk about indoor racing, tell everyone about your new stuff, check in on the club's finances, argue about the rules, and generally have a good time.

Here is a quick recap of items discussed at the Hangar 30 Pre-Season Wedgwood Broiler Super-Func.
Pro racers are great, and new racers are great, and both are necessary. There's no need to put "but" between any of those clauses. We talked the most about new racers--as in new novice racers, as well as new racers to the club, novice or otherwise. Everyone in RC appreciates the importance of bringing in new interest. No club without a stream of fresh faces can last for long. The Seattle RC Racers have been going long enough to experience the ebb and flow of new racers to our events. Some seasons we've seen a lot of new talent, young and old, while other years we have seen far fewer.
Last season at Hangar 30, we consistently ran a Novice class, which is typically, though not exclusively, associated with new racers. It's the same "run what ya brung within reason" formula that we have posted for years. And truth be, virtually every club in the land runs something like it--it's a settled quantity.
What Hangar 30 has perhaps been missing of late is a "funster" formula. So, let it be heard near and far that Tamiya classes are welcome at Hangar 30 (they always have been). We are also going to let the USGT, USVTA, and FWD classes settle themselves out around the 25.5 brushless motor. They can all run together, or if numbers rise to the mark, they can run separate. In any case, whatever 25.5 touring chassis gets you going, it has a home at the Hangar.
We expect GT12-R to run strong again. Stock 1/12th has its crew. What we wait to see is whether 21.5 Stock Touring emerges.
Provided The Shop is up for it, and last I checked they are, pencil in our trophy race for the Presidents Day weekend, same as last year. More details to come in the next couple months.
There is a lot to be grateful for and proud of in our region when it comes to sustaining on onroad RC racing interest. It's durability in the region is due largely to the fact that we don't take it for granted. Hangar 30 has had its place on the scene since 2009. I think it is still a good idea to offer a quick, hard hitting mid-week program in the Northwest's biggest city. It thrives on a can-do ethos. The setup/teardown model has and continues to serve.
Hangar 30 kicks off its season on September 27th. Track build at 6. Q1 at 7. Hope to see you there.

Thanks for the update! Keeping a close eye on the 21.5 stock touring class and hoping the late outdoor season enthusiasm carries into the carpet season.

I’m pre excited, Tomorrow,Wednesday 27th of September
Raceday Bitches, Hanger 30 Scrub the Rug.
Anybody else onboard for Onroad?
I’ve thought about it a bit, What with the way kids stay up all hours, unlike when I was a kid, 11:00 going to bed is not out of the norm, so realistically zero reason to not have an young novice class attending Wednesday night worlds.
