No changes, for now. We're on hold. My irrational hope that we get to race this season persists, but the park is not yet issuing permits.

Thinking about getting back in after a few years away. Is there any interest in doing some Mini-Z, or smaller scale racing (like Losi Mini-Ts) this winter? Portland seems like the closest place to race Mini-Zs regularly PDX Mini Z Racing. Not sure I want to jump back in with the TC or 1/12 scale stuff yet.

Seems like a relatively small investment (EVA foam mats and a timing loop) for a class that might attract new racers - you can set up a car in the "near box stock" class for $250-350 including radio, batteries, transponder and some upgrades. I may be buying some EVA foam mats and building my own garage track, so I'd even be happy to bring it to Hangar 30 (assuming racing happens there this year...) and set it up just for fun and to gauge interest.

IIRC, when I last raced with you folks (2015-2016?), there was a carpet 2wd buggy class that was being tested. Not sure if that panned out, but I was also thinking that doing something similar with Losi Mini-T's would be a lot of fun, and put minimal wear on the carpet with the right tires, since they're so light and small. Again, the class would be super easy to get started in, since the investment is fairly small to get going.

2021
Sep
Wed 29 H30

Oct
Wed 13 H30
Wed 27 H30

Nov
Wed 10 H30
Wed 17 H30

Dec
Wed 1 H30
Wed 15 H30
Wed 29 H30

2022
Jan
Wed 12 H30
Wed 26 H30

Feb
Wed 9 H30
Wed 23 H30

Mar
Wed 9 H30
Wed 23 H30

That's a full, 14 Wednesday nights of Hangar 30 awesomeness.

We are starting an hour later, this season. So, track build is at 6 pm. Not to fear, as from the beginning, we are set up to operate on a tight schedule. Our tracks builds in 30 minutes or less on the front end and tears down in even less than that (all-time teardown record: 9 minutes).

We will race a standard two quals and a main with six heats per round.

As in recent seasons, the go-to classes are likely to be:

25.5 USGT
17.5 Stock 1/12th
21.5 Stock TC
Novice
Tamiya Mini

We are just over one month out, so it's time to start preparations!

Default Club Meeting Wed. 9/15

Let's have a club meeting!

It's shorter notice than I would like, but I've been calling around to find a place to meet--indoors with food. Restaurants are short on servers, so it's been hard to find a place to host even a dozen or so people.

I finally got the owner of the Broiler on the horn today, and we worked out a way.

It's French Dips all around, choice of salad or fries. He'll probably be hustling back to wait on us himself, but if he can pick up another server, we'll be able to order drinks. I have a hunch it will happen.

Club Meeting
Wednesday, Sep 15
6pm
Wedgwood Broiler
Seattle

We have a few specs and rules to iron out, and I'm sure we will want to talk about the Seatac season just wrapped up.

All that said: Hangar 30 - Wednesday night 1/12th scale - Wedgwood Broiler - it's coming!

7 PM Q1
Two quals, single mains
Max 7 heats per round

Classes
21.5 Stock TC
25.5 USGT change: ROAR-approved 25.5 motors with OEM rotors
17.5 Stock 1/12th
21.5 Formula One
Novice
Additional info at Specs & Rules | Seattle RC Racers

Fees
$30 first class
$10 each additional

Tires and Sauce
BSR spec foams $20/set, limit one set per racer per night (club inventory is for club racing only)
Jaco Blue TC tires $30/set, limit one set per racer per night (same as above)
SXT 3.0, regular, max, or light
TDK, the club has a supply for free nightly use

Health and Safety
We will follow King County guidelines for vaccination and masks,
Currently, masks are required indoors for all racers unless sitting in pit eating or drinking,

We are looking forward to our return to racing. We have full strength season ahead of us. Let's have fun!

Hey Brandon,

Yes, so long as it's a purple striper, you are good.

Other spec tires brands off the top of my head are CRC, Contact, and JFT.
