Hoping for lots of 1/12 scale tonight.

It was a major blast coming out of retirement, and hitting the black carpet for the 1st time at H30. It was amazing to have that much grip while at the same time losing grip on the bumps. That hanger is now faster than ever. My highlights include hitting 46 laps on the 2nd qual, knowing that I could have had 48, if I did not keep crashing every third time I hit the 180, and watching Speed Mason, giving full power in novice no matter how many times it rolled.
It was the exact opposite of what Brian did when he took TQ on his almost flawless record 52 lap run. One had a complete mastery of the car while the other was completely out of control.

As we close out our 2018/2019 indoor season, I’d like to firstly thank all of our racers who chose to spend the dark, damp, dreary Northwest months with us at Hangar 30. Much has been said about changes within the club, the On-Road scene, and the hobby in general. Having said that, what became apparent to me last night was that the spirit of “fun competition” hasn’t changed.
While other classes have struggled, we saw the rise of two categories that were non-existent at the beginning of the season, step up in a big way to fill the void, those being F1 and Mini. The term “fun” means something different to virtually every racer, and while the Mini class isn’t what some would call a good time on carpet, those that raced it laughed, hooted and hollered each and every round. They also came to throw down at each round this year. Congrats to Tim Cook on his season championship. Well deserved, buddy!
Formula One was a stalwart Saturday class for the past few years, before the shuttering of the CC program. As they say though, when one door closes, another opens, and this couldn’t be truer of my new favorite class. More-than-solid turnouts each week and good clean racing left everyone with many more smiles than frowns. Seven F1’s on track last night made for a crowded track, but the action was no less fun and fulfilling. I saw smiles from nearly every racer after the Main last night-something that can’t always be said by many classes. Call 21.5 F1 “overpowered” or “sketchy”, but these guys have consistently showed up and added new flavor to our mid-week program. Thanks to my fellow racers for allowing me to join in the fun. It’s been a blast!
Scale Spec has had many types of ebb and flow over its existence, and while overall skill levels and perceived seriousness changes with the times, one thing has never changed: Good, hard, balls-out, door-banging action from start to finish. This class has a Wednesday core that takes its fun as seriously as the next class, as evidenced by Kyle Bradshaw’s quest for personal bests over frustration with losing the season championship. One can’t help but mention the commitment to hobby-level competition that this class has always provided. Budgets vary, but smiles-per-gallon describes this class to a “T” to me. To the victor go the spoils though, so a massive congrats to Mike Boyle on a superb season title!
What else can be said about our Stock 12th class that hasn’t already been said? It’s our bread and butter. It’s our biggest class. It’s our most competitive class. It’s also probably our most diverse class from a skill standpoint. To crack the points, one must be on top of setup, prep, and most importantly, driving. The top three of Todd Mason, Brian Bodine, and Stuart Mason provided a season’s worth of battles, clashes, and knife-edge skills. Much like 1:1 Formula One, the midfield was rife with scraps all series long. With a class boasting anywhere from five to ten entries on a Wednesday night, it’s easy to see why Stock 12th scale is our premiere class. Congrats to the top three and to Stuart Mason on his season championship!
That wraps it up for our 2018/2019 Hangar 30 indoor season. Thanks to Kyle Bradshaw for running the show, as well as Todd, Alex, Brian, Jake, Korey and everyone else for their countless hours of behind the scenes work that allows us to have such a dialed winter home. Thanks again to all of our amazing racers that battled traffic, weather, and everything in between to come spend Wednesday nights with us.
**A friendly reminder, we have an all-club meeting on March 23rd at Round Table Pizza in Burien at 6:00PM. If you have any questions, please contact myself, Todd, or Korey. Come on out for free pizza and a discussion of our rules and structure going forward!**
Results attached.

Congrats to the winners of their classes. The H30 season was a lot of fun with the new surface. Thanks to SRCR for pulling the trigger on that purchase! Time for some tarmac!

Big shout out to Jesse for the write ups and tracking of points. I know that it takes time to write. It seems like a simple thing, but honestly, it's that simple action that provides the pulse to the program. Thank you for doing it!
Hangar 30 still remains my favorite quirky place to race. It's not completely flat, especially when you compare it to Nora! I'm very pleased with the layout. It's drivers course. Car placement is important. It challenges every tool in the pit box. I look forward to taking that challenge on again next fall.

What time can we get in? Will be down on the 25th for IIC Shakedown...

Hey Ryan,
We get in at 5. The track is usually together by 5:45. Often sooner, but that's the conservative estimate.

It's been years since I've run in the Hangar... Bringing Keith with me on the 25th... Tables and chairs required?

Hey Ryan,
We have tables. Should be good on chairs. Stuart can stand, in the event we're short.

We're calling an all-club meeting for this Wednesday, at the Wedgwood Broiler to sort out our rules for the season. Apologies for the short notice, it's not how we like to do things.
All-Club Meeting
Wedgwood Broiler
7PM
We have some items to sort through, and it's best to do it with the full group. The big ones are:
Scale Spec/USGT rules
TC spec tires
Trophy race
Tire sauce
Food
I'll have a full agenda for the meeting, but those are the high points. Show up, tune in, get on board!
