Hey all,
Todd is back in NY all week for work, so I will tug on the skirt and fly the pom pom's. He will return slightly Zombified for racing the CC this Sat, doors open at 5p. Yes, we were sad to hear the news about Rex's passing and our tummies were a little emptier without him last Sat. Please bring your snacks and plan ahead your meals. We had over 80% (maybe more) of the club run out early leaving behind only 6 guys to pack up the track. We were literally down the bare minimum. So please, stick around to pack up. On our opening night, we almost could not put the track away. We can do better.

Sorry I wasn't able to help much with my tore Achilles. It's a lot better now and will be able to help.

Ten years in, and some of the old challenges remain the same. I have no expectation that we will ever be free of nights like last where there were too few people on hand to help tear down. Further, I will candidly admit it's one of the things I don't like to bring up for fear that people will stay away because who likes to get bitched at? Right?

At the same time, I have to stick up for the guys who reliably hang to help. If it's too thin, too often, the strong horses start to feel taken for granted. So, for them, I'll ask: please help. Nothing about setup or teardown is hard when we have the guys on hand. I will do my part to get us done with racing in time to get the lights turned out by midnight.

And, y'know, don't take for granted what we have. The opportunity to race on an ultra-smooth, four-roll 100' track with modified touring cars isn't something anyone can just dial up. I've recently attended a big race at arguably the premier track in the whole country, and I will tell you, our track stands up by comparison.

Before anyone suggests an incentive to get guys to help, forget it. Put it on me, if you like--we don't play that. Me, Brian, Jake and Alex? We pay a full entry fee, just like everyone else. We're grown men. We know exactly what the score is. There are guys with legitimately ailing backs or who are nursing injury. Everyone gets that. But, if you're able, please come to help set up, or stay to help tear down. One or the other is fine. For those who do both, you are the heroes of this program.

Are there any 25.5s left for purchase from the club? I know I'm really late to the party on that. If there's one available to buy tomorrow night, I definitely need it!

Lots of hours put into work last week (70), and this weekend with early rise times of 2:45am. So unfortunately for me, I have to pass on tonight's festivities. Definitely getting some wheel time next raceday. Grip and rip boys n girls

Hi JayBee,

look forward to seeing you at the next race. I know how it feels being busy. I was able to sneak over for a few minutes on a break at work over at the U, and then come back later to race in the main. It was fun getting even just that much of a run in. See you soon. :-)

Default 13Oct2018 Race Report

Is this not the best time of year? I love fall days, crisp in the morning, warm in the afternoon. The thing is, indian summer is a fleeting season. Most years it's only a few weeks, a month at most, then the murk sets in. So, grab the days while we can. Turnout was light, though Mod TC was full, and Scale Spec and 1/12th were pretty good too. Still, the day did not lend itself to a couple hours indoors prepping cars and a car ride to to the track. Plus, I know last weekend a good showing at NORA burned some of the energy. Our time will come.

There was one huge upside. I reckon we may have set a gym teardown record. It went FAST. It was entirely due to enough guys hanging in to help. When it's like that, no one has to work too hard. We were packed up and out in 20 minutes? Seriously, it was a Hangar 30 style teardown, done before you know it. Thank you so much. Let's hang on to this idea: it's not bad at all when the help is on hand.

The heat stats and mains are here: https://rcscoringpro.com/events/7246/

I'd say the best race of the night was the Weylin-Donny-Stuart Mod TC battle. There were some great moments there.

Next weekend is the Sasquatch Challenge down in Yacolt with the Rose City gang. Team Mason is headed down with Slapmaster to support the effort. I like the schedule they've come up with. They're building the track Saturday morning, and Q1 is at 2. There's no need for a Friday night stay, unless of course you're wanting to spend the night in Portland, or take in the splendor that is the 'Couve. And really, who could pass it up?

Results attached.

It's a shame I missed Sat's club race. I've got a dandy head cold with the watering eyes. I'm not much of a giver and didn't feel like sharing that goodness! I really had a few tricks I wanted to try after getting tail tucked back in NY. Oh well, now I'll have to unleash fury in Yacolt! Hope to see y'all there!

No Yacolt for me, but I'll be at my customary "shitshow island" on Wednesday, and...... I do believe..... I got a hall pass for next Saturday's race!

Also..... I ordered a 12th scale.
