A message to SRCR Racers regarding this year’s club elections (mostly copied from Bill :P):

It is time again for club elections. Sorry I'm a little late this year, but I'll get the ball rolling.

Open Positions: The three roles up for election this year are:
--- Qty 1 Secretary
--- Qty 2 Representatives

Each role is described in the club’s Constitution and Bylaws at

https://seattlerc.files.wordpress.co...and-bylaws.pdf

Nominations: Please PM nominations for Secretary and / or Representative to myself. Nominations received by May 1st, 2017 will be announced and put on the ballot. Self nominations are also accepted.

Voting: In our new digital age, I figure this is a good time to take advantage of Google forms/polls. I will setup a Google poll on May 5th, 2017 for people to cast their vote.

Why Should You Get Involved? This is an exciting time to be involved in SRCR’s club leadership. We have upcoming decisions to be made about outdoor onroad programs and next season’s indoor programs. Also, the Representatives and Secretary have an important role in developing racing rules. If you have a passion for RC racing and want to be a positive influence in our club, please consider nomination for Representative or Secretary.

Please let me or anyone on the Competition Committee know if you have any questions.

Thanks!

I'd also like to add a late nominee for Competition Representative, Jesse Anderson!

Let me know if you have any questions

Default Reedy Sonic 540-FT Fixed-Timing

Has the club ever considered moving to something like this for the spec classes?

Reedy Sonic 540-FT Fixed-Timing 17.5 Competition Brushless Motor

https://www.teamassociated.com/parts...ushless_motor/

Red RC ? RC Car News » Reedy Sonic 540-FT Competition BL motor

The same kind of idea could also be done at the battery level.

Ends up causing more problems than it's worth. If all motors were created exactly equal it would be ok, but unfortunately that's not the case. Roar did some experimenting with this last carpet season, Maclan and two other manufacturers were a part of it,...didn't work out well and they scrapped it. Just too many elements you can't control in a production environment to make all the motors exactly equal.

I see, so in process one starts out trying to save money by using a single motor, but to gain an advantage as each motor is built "different", a competitive racer will end up buying several of the same motor, and then uses the best one. Is that what you were seeing?

There's a lot more to it than that. But that is one of the problems, it's way down on the list though.

Hold on for a second
look at the scale Spec 25.5 indoor races ,every one's using the same spec
motor and you will always going see the fast guy always going to be fast
So having spec motor for 17.5 stock is no different than Scale Spec
So what is your real reason thinking of fix timing motor? it is going to help close race not really imo

We saw that constantly back in the old "silver can" brushed days. The difference there, is that you were talking about a simple $15.00 motor, versus a $65.00 motor. I can only imagine the possible differences now.

Really just a thought at controlling costs a bit more in the 17.5 classes. But I can understand the view that a control motor and battery are not really a help to this end, as many might just buy several of the "CLUB" motors and batteries just to find a better one.

However it seems that many of the racers spend more money running a competitive SPEC class on a year to year basics than running a MOD class; granted the tire burn in MOD might make this a wash, but it seems that SPEC should be a lower cost overall.

On the other hand it has been kind of fun to buy new stuff with an eye of getting closer to the fastest lap times, only to see the rest of the group get that much faster still.

It's kind of like that feeling that Force India must have each year, "We have the Mercedes Engine why are we not on the Podium?"

Yeah, spec classes have always been more expensive. Mod is the cheap racing.
