My son and I started racing 1/12 17.5 for the last few races of last year. I am new to on-road but have some ext racing off-road in the past. He has been mostly novice, but moving up.
We both started with 1/12 17.5 CRCs last year.
Each race we both get lapped many times by Todd, Mini, and Brian, but it is still lots of fun.
The club has been great at getting us going, and helping us with tires etc...
My goal each time is to just get better. i have been able to go from about 2 seconds down per lap, to 1 at the H30 last race.
They have rocked, it has been a lot of fun.
Many of our race nights i will bring other friends or my girls, and they mostly enjoy racing the the 1/12 CRCs cars in novice vs TC. They seem not to break, other than a few small parts, and can get around the track better with them.
This year we have been slowly adding TC 17.5 as well, but 1/12 is the best class.

SEA TAC Track
Question on the SEA TAC Track.
My weekend schedule continues to be havoc with work and things.
I finally have my MOD ARC R10 2015 up and running, and want to get at least some type of practice in before the next CC race that I can make on the 19th of DEC. (Is that an all-day race?)
Is there a process to SEA TAC practice? Do I just show-up on a sun break and go at it? Or do we need to check-in with the club?
Also do we have any thoughts at this point what the outdoor program will look like, and what days the club will be racing.
I am putting in my vote now for Saturday Mornings as I am already booked on Sundays.

Public park.. no rules except no nitro.
Only time there will be rules will be on sanctioned race days... my vote for a weekend race day would be Saturday also...

I didn't see this on the list for approved motors for scale spec, but I'm assuming the list was made and this one came out afterwards. Before I buy it I want to make sure it's Hanger 30 approved.

Actually we only allow the Novak 25.5 motors in scale spec. We wanted to keep motor of the week mania from happening, so picked one that was readily available and that most already had, the Novak 25.5 was the choice. They do make a couple versions, but they use the same stator windings, just a different outside can assembly, as they changed that a bit a couple years ago.
Here is the Scale spec rules section from the Seattle RC Racers web site:

No restriction on endbell timing. ROAR-approved Non-Timing ESC for brushless motors. HPI D Compound or Gravity RC USGT pre-mount tires. Realistic, scale bodies must be run on all chassis. VTA bodies may run included rear-deck spoilers. GT bodies may run included wings, or option wing sets that emphasize scale appearance.
