I recognize that groove! Or lack thereof. That is why the Japanese dominated worlds, right up to the last place that really mattered. Look at the poor marshals, they have nothing to do.

Fishing is over for me. Time to winterize the fuel and enjoy the catches.

So who's heard of double blu/orange? Apparently its the next installment of foam 12th scale tires. There is another wave behind this as well. The topic of spec 12 scale tires came up at iic for spec classes. Lets just say that it's gaining traction.

+1 That would have me on the 12th Scale bandwagon

Default 1/12th Stock Spec Tires

I was previously unconvinced that a spec tire was called for. No longer. Setting aside the personal uncertainty about what combo is "click" on a given track on a given day at particular hour, temperature, and dew point. What do we tell anyone just coming up? I would love to be able to say yellow/black: works everywhere always. And it does. But with this new and ever changing wave of tires here and more on the way, it's getting hard to give guidance. Does a club racer dare buy five or six sets ahead of time? And who can possibly maintain an inventory?

Straight up? I'm prepared to say yellow/black right now. Yes, I know that no one is making an identifiable tech package at this time (as in the WGT stripe), but this feels like one of those "about to get out of hand" moments. Which is sort of tragic because there isn't a better week in week out class for the dedicated sportsman racer than Stock 1/12th.

Yellow/black is nice but is there better? CRC has a purple strip lilac combo that a few tracks have been using. Brian tried getting some last year and CRC was out. There instock now I guess. Andrew Knapp's track runs them and they love it!

There was even talk about Mod should be speced so races can tune there cars not bolt a hundred different combos in to find that one for that track and day.... Just saying what I heard "pro's" talking about. There getting turned off by Mod 12th at the moment. It's getting out of hand really.

So my 30 sets of yellow black would be useless?

Here's a beautiful track in Japan. I've never seen one like this. Some different carpet. I'm pretty sure this is their stock class, which is 2s 21.5, blinky.

Enjoy.

from what I'm reading ,this track is located at Kyushu Fukuoka ,is where my mom was born...the video about qualifying run 1/12 modify class .

Just checked with stock at CRC: "lots", in stock if we were to be interested. I don't know. This is a pretty public forum to kick this can around the yard. Is there any hard feelings about this what so ever? I feel like I have a pretty good handle on tires, but combos do seem to be getting out of control. Just like our spec tc tire, it would be nice to say: here's your set, have fun, good luck!

Why do you have 30 sets of yel/blk?

I'd be all over the yellow/black rule, as I have 4 full sets trued and in a bag, ready to go. I realize I'm the new guy to this class, but they seem to "just work" even for someone with my limited tuning/maintaining experience. Plus, there is something to be said for eliminating a big portion of the tuning game and just driving.

Well, I think "better" requires definition when talking spec tires. I'll throw out three criteria.

1. They work. No one wants to drive a pile of poo, even if it's the same for everyone. I will submit that in my humble experience yellow/black works everywhere always (stipulated that I'm referring to carpet racing.). Perhaps the CRC lilac spec'ers do as well, but I haven't tried them.

2. They're available. Checking 3 different sources just now, yellow/blacks are available (Stipulated that I'm referring to CRC's as it is unknown when and whether Jaco/Parmas will be available.). I see no CRC 1/12th spec tires in online inventories.

3. They're affordable. Obviously a subjective criteria, but on a relative basis, CRC's are mid to low market on retail cost.

I'll add that I'm not married to any brand or shop. And maybe the lilac spec'ers are the shizz. As for mod spec tires, I'd go along, but that's a secondary priority.

Just to put this out there, the spec tire has a purple strip like the wgt tires. To say that we are running yel/blk does not prevent anyone from bolting up something different as it's not really tech'able. Like is said, this is a horrible place to post this topic. But lets see where it leads. It's just "talk"

Hopefully this is not set stone in the future . I run the Speedmerchant Rev8 and they prefer to bolt on ULti tires and I just order 6 set this morning ...

Changing rules again is killing me....I brought the F1 and the WGT last year and now they are no longer regular classes for them...

Just talk Franco, don't panic. Just getting a feel.

Knapp's track likes the spec 12 tires... they work very well.

I haven't tried any myself, but I am willing to test try. Anyway, carry on....please do not anyone over react or panic.

Right.

As Brian said, "Horrible place to discuss this."

There will be no mid-season rule changes, Franko. Smoke 'em if you got 'em.
