Default nwic 2008/2009

Sorry if I'm jumping the gun on this, but if I'm not mistaken the new nwic season is only about 2 months away. Last year was great and I was hoping to get the ball rolling with some talk on the upcomming season. I know since last year a lot has changed as far as the classes so I want to see what some thoughts are on the classes for this year. Foam, rubber, spec, 12th, 10th pan? What type of power for each class, how many classes, what tracks this year. I know there is a lot to go over this year and Darren, Ron, Doug, Russ, Mark, and Rick will put there heads together and put on a good show as always. If the rest of us can help them by getting on the same page I'm sure they wouldn't mind the input as long as we all can be constructive. I've done the series for 4 years now and it's the one thing I look forward to every year (even when Greg kicks my ass). Hopefuly the rest of the northwest looks forward to it too. With that being said let the discussion begin and long live the series!

Here are some possible ideas for the classes. Spec rubber 17.5 or brushed stock, Superstock foam 13.5, mod foam open motor, outlaw rubber (motors up for discussion), 12th 13.5. Also some ideas for some new classes like 10th pan or trans am. I'm all for adding new classes as long as there is enough interst and it won't spread things to thin within the classes. the premount speedmind 28 tires seemed to work well, and lipos in all classes except 12th and 10th pan are an obvious good addition. Adding a new class might be fun as well as bring in some new blood for the series. I also have a side suggestion for this year. How about eliminating the track team points this year as it seems to bring up some animosity among the racers.

I don't think I will be participating this year, but I do think this is a good idea. It's just more work for the person doing points.

Speaking of which, nail down who is doing the points BEFORE race #1.

Wow Tom, you read our minds! Mark. Darren, Russ, Doug And I have been talking and come up with most of the same ideas you had!

Proposed Class
rubber stk-17.5 or brushed , lipo or NIMH battery 5000mah max and 7.4 max
outlaw rub-13.5 or brushed 19t , lipo or NIMH bat 5000mah max and 7.4 max
Stk foam-17.5 or brushed , lipo or NIMH battery 5000mah max and 7.4 max
outlaw foam-13.5 or brushed 19t, lipo or NIMH+ bat 5000mah max 7.4 max
Mod foam-any motor and battery 5000mah max and 7.4 max
1/12 17.5? 4 cell or if adv the new 1 cell lipos from Orion
1/10 17.5? 4 cell or if adv the new 1 cell lipos from Orion
Other classes could be run but not series classes
Slash stock out of box radio change ok Stk motor and wheels
Oval??
Trans am
others as tracks decide
Tires for rubber sorex 28? 28 min 32? Both? Yes we suspect some people cheated last year and ran 32s

Apx hopeful Dates not set in stone
Oct- SIR early 1-2 weekend
Nov-TZ2 early 1-2nd weekend
Dec-RCP 6-7 first weekend
Jan-Tri mid to late in month
Feb-BDR mid to late in month
Mar- Reg? maybe at tz2 not part of series

Rd-Hope to see Doug do them all again if possible

You know after thinking about the team thing I'm ok with scraping it. Way less to keep track of so points could go up sooner and may be less tension.

This is my take on things and nothing is set in stone just wanted to get some info out there.

Doug , Mark,Darren and Russ give me a call when you get time and letís talk dates

Thanks
Ron Smith

I'm pretty sure there will be a 13.5 sedan class in either rubber or foam and most likely both. I'm game for 13.5 in 12th as well, but has anyone ran 17.5 to see what it's like. If it's real close to a brushed stock it may be a little boring. Last year we ran the brushed 19t and that was a good amount of power thats why 13.5 might be agood way to go. I'll run whatever the commitee decides. Sounds like the track owners have got a good start on getting the classes together 3 foam and 2 rubber classes will give people a set of good options to run at least 2 classes which is what we want to see. Thanks Darren, Ron, Mark, Russ, Doug.
