Pre-season test results are hard to read since we don't know what each team is working on or what kind of fuel load the cars are. I agree McLaren will have the HP deficiency from last year resolved but their reliability will keep Alonso from finishing #2 in the points. Kimi will finally be in a car that is both competitive and reliable so expect to see him finish with 10+ wins and more than 20pts ahead of Massa in 2nd. Fisi will have again the best balance of reliability and performance but is too inconsistent and lacks the talent needed to challenge a top tier driver. Hamilton, Kubica, Vettel, and Kovalainen all show potential and will have good drives but over the course of a season lack the experience to be anything more than a mid-filed runner.

Practice doesnt mean anything in F1. Over the years you guys should have learned that. It will alway come down to race day. Now I just wish I had speed vision so I could watch it...

Weber + Newey chassis + Renault engine i figured would equal good stuff, but....??? it is early though, obvioulsy

I was most impressed with how Ferrari turned around their car last year. It wasn't so good of the bat, then it was dialed.

I wonder how much of that was actually Michelin stopping development of their tires mid-season 9as they knew they weren't going to be around this year), and everyone falling behind to Bridgestone because of it..???

It seemed Like the Michellen was the better tire after the ruls change in 05. I think Alonso owes his titles to that fact, and oh ya that legal / illegal dampner thingy, as well.

I will enjoy watching him struggle this year

Long live Schumacher = )

I think RedBull will begin to show their stuff around mid-season. Newey has said about the same. He has tried to down play the media around him. Their tech department is still a fraction of what you have at Renault McLaren and Ferrari. All that said I think they will have some of the biggest upturn of fortunes this year.

Toyota-will still suck until they get both Trulli and Ralf out of the cars. Neither has ever been praised for their testing prowess. Trulli was greeat back in the Prost days but is now long in the tooth.

Ferrari-with Raikonen and Massa will be very good they still ave one of the strongest motors both HP and reliability wise. The loss of Brawn and now Nigel Stepney will hurt them though.

McLaren-Alonso will be good if they can get the car on the nose. Kimi still had to deal with understeer and JPM never could drive the car with Kimi's steering settings. Lewis still fresh from Karts will like the same for steering too and that bodes well.

Renault-Heiki will be good Fisi will not same here as Toyota Fisi had his chances and never exploited them. Same as his first tour of Renault.

BMW- could be the dark horse Kubica looks very promising and with Vettel in the wings Heidfeld will be looking back at the wall ot to getting the laptimes where he needs to. There is a reason Ron Dennis pssed him over all those years ago I think we are all seeing it now.

Williams-the new car looks good but still the same bad aero losing Geoff Willis hurt them and Patrick Head is too much of an autocrat to let go of the helm.

Spyker-Gascoyne will help them alot but the $$ will not be there to develop the team for another year or 3. There is already $$ rumors floating their board is not happy with the purchase and with $100m min operating budget it is a cash drain for a botique mfg.

Honda- Rubens was good with the Ferarri experiencs but they had learned all they can from him and need some hungry young talent. Sending Anthony over to Aguri will prove to be a bad mistake and waste of talent.

Super Aguri-Ant will impress here finally. Look to the Friday testing and he always was there on the sheets. You have to filter Friday light fuel loads but he is always there as a driver. Thankfully that god awful Arrows chassis is gone and they will have a developed RA106 Honda.

Torro Rosso- I wish Speed would show something here and with the newer chassis hopefully they will move up the grid. Berger is old school and does not want to put up with the "punks" that he has now. Speed and Liuzzi both have spent alot of time in the upstairs of the Energy Station and not enough time with the Engineers and the cars.

So all that said my call for the Championship(Team Leaders)
1. McLaren-Alonso
2. Ferrari-Kimi
3. Renault-Heiki
4. BMW-Kubica
5. RedBull-Webber
6. Honda- Jenson
7. Toyota-Trulli
8. Aguri-Davidson
9. Torro Rosso( who knows here both drivers are not firm) Bourdais if it happens
10.Spyker-Albers
