‘FWR Racing Season’

Just confirmed with the the MAN himself, Mike "Bus Driver" Clifton, that we are a go for a May 6th opener. He will consult with YBD on details of work party for the bus and possible practice sessions the last 2 Sundays in April. YBD will be back on the mainland this weekend. Look for post beginning of the week.
I know alot has happened with this program over the last few years and it seems that 2009 was an epic season and may not repeat any time soon.
We lost Jose and it seemed we lost the passion for FWR too....
It could be economy, it could be additional tracks now up and running, it could be personal beefs, it could be lack of leadership, it could be lack of enthusiasm, it could be laid back approach to the program, it could be class structure, it could be alot of things and yet it could be a GREAT season.
We have a great place to race, a great group of racers and an oppurtunity to make it a great program again. It will take an effort from everyone to do this.. Bus shows up around 8 on Sundays and a start to a great day of racing is getting the bus unloaded and the track set up. Many hands make light work. Please take part in the set-up process and I assure you this will start the day off right and show that WE are willing to do what it takes to keep FWR alive.. Hopefully we get a layout system down and the track can go up smooth. I would consider running the same lay out, with some small tweaks along the way, to ease the build process. Summer Sizzler is a different beast all together and it will have it's own.
I love this program and wish I could be there every Sunday but I can't, I will again shoot for every other and hope to be a leader and an example when I am there. I am pretty sure I will be experiencing the "nitro stress" and can't wait. Logan will give novice a shot this year too.. I hope my enthusiasm for this "hobby" will motivate others to pitch in and re-light the fire in there RC life..
Dates to pencil in...
July 4th- Freedom Fair Tacoma. Awesome time and can't beat the parking pass and epic pit space, racing is OK, but it is all about the atmosphere..
Summer Sizzler- Assuming it is Aug 10-12. Set up and practice Friday at Noon. It IS time to start rallying for this weekend. Quite a few NW racers have friends from all over this area, Salem to Canada. We can make this Sizzler on of the best if everyone starts thinking about it NOW. There are guys who have contacts through their sponsers and from travelling all of the country and Canada enjoying the RC lifestyle. Put the word out there..
I am asking the people who have left the program due to whatever reasons to think about hitting the SS.. Do it for the good time memories you had at one point for FWR, do it because Mike Clifton is such a nice guy and puts his heart into getting that bus every Sunday.. Heck do it just to do it..
Feel free to PM me or email me direct ([email protected]) any input/output you may have...

PS- David "Lapcounter" Leister still MIA, have you seen him?

Just talked to Clifton.. shoot me a list of consumables, tires, spare part, bodies etc... I will hand deliver to him at the final Saturday Hangar race on the 14th.. he will get some stock ordered up. May be setting up some sort of trackside service also..
Get those asphalt pounders out and start gearing up!
