Exclamation Galaxy RC Racers - Lynnwood, WA

Here we are! We have a club name and our first social media pages are up and we think the new club deserves its own thread, independent of the existing tcs thread.

We are Galaxy RC Racers. An homage to our roots with Galaxy Hobby and everything Mike has done over the years to give us a space to race in Lynnwood.

Check us out on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/galaxyrcracers
Twitter: https://twitter.com/galaxy_rc

We're keeping the schedule in line with the original Galaxy Hobby race schedule which means we have events schedule for August 4th and August 18th.

Class rules will be the same as we had at Galaxy Hobby, and we'll get them written down and posted soon. For now, you can refer to Tamiya rules and regulations

GRCR will be meeting in the north parking lot of Edmonds-Woodway High School for now. We'll have a starting time soon, but we can expect a schedule similar to what we've seen for the past few years at Galaxy Hobby.

Default TCS Regionals

What an awesome day of racing by everyone at Regionals!

The Tamiya TCS series has long-been my favorite form of RC racing, and Sunday proved it. It was great to catch up with everyone and enjoy some tough battles on track! The layout that Justin and the crew came up with was, in my opinion, the best we've had in a long time. A fast-flowing, risk-reward throwback to the Tamiya USA layout.

Although bittersweet, with this being the final race hosted in front of the old Galaxy Hobby, I think it was a fitting and fun send-off for Mike and Sue, who have put so much into the community over the years. Also, a massive THANKS to Collin, Russ, Josh, and the entire crew for picking up the program and allowing us a place to still enjoy some good ol' fashioned parking lot racing!!

I would also like to add an additional Thank You for Bill, who even though he does not have a car has been extremely helpful all around and then also to Alex D who assisted with unloading after TCS. To get everything loaded and unloaded it takes about an hour before and after getting to/from a race site and all of those guys that were mentioned above plus Bill and Alex have stepped up since GRCR launched. Without people like that we would not be able to get the track to where it needs to be or back in storage.

A huge thank you to all of those that are helping to make this happen!

This is very cool! I'm not an on-road guy (yet), but I'll definitely make a point to stop by and watch a some of the racing.

Cross-posting from FB for Sunday's upcoming race:

Just wanted to post a fee reminder since we did things odd for the track test day and will now be going to the normal fee amounts. $10 per class, $10 for transponder rental if you need one. Also starting at the 8/4 race we will be able to take cards via Square, assuming I remember a card reader for my phone that is. There is a $1 fee for using a card to cover the transaction costs. We can also take donations via card if you would like to contribute extra to the club. Hope to see you Sunday, the weather is looking hot so be prepared with sunscreen and fluids. The club will also bring bottles of water with us if we can figure out how to pack them with everything else. Speaking of packing we are always looking for some extra help during load and unload so if you are interested in helping with that just let us know.

For those not on FB or email: Update for Sunday racing. The part of the parking lot that is closest to 212th and the softball field is currently acting as a large storage area for the ongoing construction on the softball field. When I stopped by to look, the section closest to 212th was open and our track area is also open. They are working on getting the port-a-potty out of the fenced-off area for us.

So be warned that the construction may cause some obstacles, mostly with parking, but I think we will be okay overall.

Thumbs up

Having the New Front Wheel drive class in the NW would be cool
Supposedly this fwd class was design for Non Sponsor or Team driver .. But again it is up to Club director or owner to make the call..
So far I am seeing four racers are running or have their fwd TC this passed weekend
Hope to see Tamiya FWD coming out to have fun as well
bringing mine out this Sunday for sure...

We've had a request to post what a typical race day schedule looks like, so here you go!

7:45 AM: 3-4 volunteers show up at Collin's house to load the track up into the trailer
9AM target time to arrive at the lot and begin unloading and setting up the track
10:30AM target time to complete track setup, open for practice
11AM Registration closes
11:30 - 11:45: Driver's meeting
12PM racing starts
5:30PM target time to wrap up racing and begin packing
7PM target time to have the trailer back at Collin's house and unloaded (3-4 Volunteers needed each race day).

If you're interested in helping out with load/unload or track setup/teardown, just let us know!

Just a reminder that we do have racing at Edmonds Woodway HS this Sunday, 8/18! We hope to start track set up at about 9, please come and lend a hand if you can so we can perhaps be racing by noon if not a little earlier. We do have volunteers for load up: thank you Russ and RJ!

Collin did stop by the school yesterday and the parking area still has construction stuff in it (same as two weeks ago), so please leave the closest parking spots open for any of our racers that may need to park closer to the track.

Also please be sure to leave some space in the bus parking lane nearest the school open for the truck and trailer to park. It's really the only place it all fits without disconnecting the trailer or taking up 6 spots.

The weather's looking to be good again so we we hope to see you trackside!
