Hello Jim,
just a heads up for you, in the rules listed for Mod 12th, it's listed as no spool, must run gear diff, I would think you meant, has to run BALL diff as gear diffs are not common in 12th. Also the same rule should likely be in 12th stock i would guess.
i hope to run, just gotta decide which class.

You're right about Mod. Ball diffs or gear diffs are allowed. So long as they have a diff action, either is fine. Spools or locked diffs of any kind are banned from Mod. And anyway, with spec tires, spools in mod are marginal. A nice firm ball diff or a gear diff with 10K is pure sweetness. It's the best, fast 1/12th scale you'll ever drive.
In Stock, spools are fine. The class is powered down enough that close quarters racing is possible with a spool. The tires are not overpowered by the 17.5/spool combination.

Modified 1/12 rules have been corrected:
"CAR MUST HAVE WORKING REAR DIFFERENTIAL. OK TO RUN EITHER A BALL OR GEAR DIFFERENTIAL. NO SPOOL OR LOCKED AXLES"
This was a content Error on my part. This has been fixed.

I'm telling you, if you'd like to toss your name in the 12mod hat, this is a great formula. Stripes, 6.5, live diff, blinky. This a fun car that does not suck donkey ..... I tested 3 formats last week, everything from open tire/diff, spec tire/spool, to spec tire/diff and hands down the latter provides the best experience. If you think this will be a dumbed down version of mod12, you're fooling yourself. Tire wear is half if not 1/3 of open tire. Could you do all Regionals on one set of stripes? Maybe. Straight speed is nearly identical to a 3.5. But mostly it's "raceable". And that's where the fun and quality is going to come from. If you have any questions, ask Korey, Todd, Jeff G, Trav or myself!
