Well just out of RC tech jail for bumping and still cant post pics of the layout.
So I'll just talk about it. Sometimes when your building these layouts, you draw something up, trying to pay attention to scale and they just don't work out. I was driving home thinking I was sure I'd be heading back up the next morning and moving everything around on a dolly to rearrange the track for plan B... which is basically improvise. But I think I was being a little tired and being a little pessimistic. I got there yesterday morning and stared at the right side of the track for about 10 minutes and just started moving things around. Switched up the angle of the tables on the right a bit and I ended up picking up a couple feet of space for the middle and was able to start to tie everything in on the left. Onto the step up-step down.. We reused the tables from the step down from the last layout to build the platform. I had to spend about 20 minutes taking apart taking apart a bunch of random screwed in stuff from when we ripped it off the table corner without getting punctured by a 4 in screw. Once that was done I laid them all flat. One of the actual nice complements I get from racers is that the turf is built on top of dirt and there's some bumps here and there to make things a bit more authentic.. anyways this part of the track where this table is going is like the surface of the moon. So I had to shim the crap out of this thing to get it level. But after some shimming was able to build a nice level full size step up step down on the left side. During the afternoon, things couldn't have worked out any better because we had a couple new racers Edwin and Jason come down to lend a hand because they wanted to run some laps. These 2 guys were frekin awesome. Both in home construction and both with a meticulous eye for aesthetics. We had everything dialed in in no time flat. Then the big boss, aka Moe came by to make sure I didn't screw anything up and set up the loop. By that time batteries were charging and we were all itching to take a few laps on this bad boy.
So I took a few laps with the racing slash first, then my mod 2wd later. I also drove both the Wambolt's T6.2 and 22T 4.0 Stadium trucks. The track is good, has good flow. Is a bit more technical then we usually build. There is one more fold in the infield. I usually don't like having too many 180s.. but what are ya gonna do.. It is all spaced out well and all the lanes are 8 foot so there's plenty of racing room. Once you are done meandering your way thru the infield you get rewarded by hitting a nice long straight and sweeper to cross the finish line. To get a fast lap on this layout, your gonna have to be like twinkle toes in the infield and then be able to smoothly come down the table corner on the right on to the straight hitting the ramp so you land flat and can accelerate onto the straight.
I really want to thank everyone who helped out on Saturday night moving everything around. Moral of the story for this layout is have faith! Sometimes after a good night of sleep and plenty of awesome people to help out, she comes around and the result is a dialed layout for everyone to enjoy for the next month! Hope to see all you guys down for some racing real soon
