Just wondering what currently is popular for racing? Is Short Course 17.5 as popular as it was 3-4 years ago? Is the Sc10 still a popular choice? Thanks for the insight
Still popular but maybe not as much as it was 3-4 years ago. If a group of you show up for races with 17.5 you will have a class for racing. Most of the regulars still have shortcourse trucks and would be more than willing to jump in. The SC10 is still popular however the latest version out is the SC10.2

Club racing is held on Wednesdays and Saturdays, this Saturday will be the first run on the new layout. Track is open on Tuesdays-Saturdays for practice.

How many of you were thinking of coming?

There would be 4 of us I believe, it will not be this weekend as we still have to buy all new gear. Does rchr sell something like a starter pack short course truck with battery and charger, and a decent truck?

Any of the Losi, AE or Kyosho SC kits on the shelf would be good starting points for racing. There are folks at the track running all of those chassis that can assist you with setups If they've still got the HobbyWing JustStock combos that would be my recommendation for an entry level ESC/17.5 motor. You'll want a decent servo (Spektrum 6040 is pretty much bulletproof) and a shorty 2S battery. If you need a radio my personal preference for starters is either the Airtronics MX-V or MT-4. Nothing wrong with Spektrum or Futaba either if you choose to go that route.

Hi Brian,

Since you mentioned you are interested in racing, I would steer clear of the RTR's. I think most would agree that the electronics are inferior and you'll end up replacing everything and spending more in the end.

For Short Course we have the following in stock

ASC7038 - Team Associated SC10.2 $304.99
KYO30070B - Kyosho SC6 $479.99
TLR3003 - TLR 22 SCT 2.0 $339.99

(all + tax)

All three are top quality racing kits and come with a 4 free race pass ($60 value)

For a basic electronics package we can offer the following

Electronics Package - Basic

AIR90216 - Airtronics MXV Radio $99.99
VNR0677 - Venom Lipo Charger $69.99
HWI81060050 - Hobbywing JusStock 17.5 Combo $115.99
RCELP2S5000DS - Racers Edge 5000mAh 25c Lipo battery $39.99
SPMSS6040 - Spektrum 6040 Digital Servo $69.99

Subtotal: $395.95
Package Price: $384.99 (plus tax) *Savings of $10.96

With these kits, you'll also need tires, we have a full selection of JConcepts and Proline race tires. We also stock all of the accessories you might need including tools, glue, pit mats, bags, wires, plugs etc...

If you are interested, please come see us at the shop or let me know via a PM or email at [email protected]

Thanks

Will

Thank you guys for the update!

Will, i probably will end up building a custom rig after i get into it. Does RCHR still have rentals? I remember they use to have a ultima sc, and a blitz that were for rentals? I am just wondering if i am better off renting for the first few times, then building a truck after I get my feet wet?

EW i agree. swung by last night to grab some rims and springs and looks 5x better in person when you can see the off cambers and the real flow. going to be fun.. possibly frustrating first 2-3 laps haha.

I like the fact that Ill be able to let any of the boys run on this one without fear of smashin' as they can roll the jumps if needed..ie i can throttle them down.

Dont think ill be in for the race in the afternoon but going to try to make it down there int he morning for a bit.. we shall see..

You guys run 1/8th scale nitro? Didn't see it on the class list for racing, mostly wondering about practices
