Default Albany, NY Area - Black Hole for 8th Scale

Been waiting and hoping for a decade an 8th scale track would open. I have neither the financial ability or land to open a track, personally - but if one opened up in this region I'd certainly pay homage and patronize it on a regular basis.

8th scale
8th scale
8th scale please...

Is anyone aware of any tracks being discussed, or possibly already upon and running I'm not aware of?

Thanks

You guys are right on both accounts. I've been to the Barn a ton of times and only went to RC Madness once a while ago. They seem to be more geared towards carpet though. And CRC out in Rome, NY has a funky race schedule that basically excludes most who aren't local to them.

Otherwise, LCRC is 5 1/2 hours way, and BEGO in Canada is 3 1/2 hours away.

I really do wonder if I got the land, built a shop, and build an 8th scale track if it would take off... but there's so much downside to it. Would only attempt on crowdfunding or something to that effect.

I do think the demand is here... people just got no where to go!

If anyone hears of an 8th scale track going in somewhere upstate NY, please post in these threads.

It APPEARS there could be some possible life to the 8th scale arena - Specifically, in Colonie, NY off of Sandcreek Rd. Stay tuned! (Unfortunately, It will be electric only).

I live in Albany and just found this forum, I first started with RC cars in the 80's and recently got back into it, purchased a 3S Typhon over the summer and just bought a 3S Granite, I work in Colonie and have a co-worker who's into the nitro cars but just bought a Granite from the local Science and Hobby Shop, any love for us 1/10 scale guys? Do you know of any RC groups that run locally? If we get enough of us then maybe we can get something started in the area.

Actually, I'm talking to a guy now who is starting up an 8th scale track. I think he's in the Rotterdam / Schenectady area. He's running 1/8 scale there. If you're willing to travel, we have Barnstormers in Chester, NY - RC Madness in Enfield, CT - CRC Raceway in Rome, NY - LCRC in Oakland Mills, PA (long drive - 5 hrs, but a great track and has camping on site) and Lanes & Trains in Easton, PA (also a bit of a hike).

The screenshot below is the track in Schenectady. He's having a get together on the 13th of NOV. I intend to go meet him and check it out. It's a start and I applaud it. You should touch base with him on Facebook.

PS - 8th scale is where the excitement is at
