Next Year Maybe??
I've got the Yokomo GT-4 RTR and I've heard through the yokomo boards that they might come out with a new model next year. Its not for sure though. I've also heard that you can easily upgrade to the new model by just buying a couple hop up parts if you have the gt-4 pro kit and a little more hop ups if you have the gt-4 rtr. Either way you can always hop up to the new model somehow. Remember that yokomo coming out with a new model is just a rumor but keep in mind that the yokomo gt-4, r-spec, and pro are basically just hop ups from each other. So most likely they'll have interchangable parts.

Speculations say a new GT4 is due out mid or late 2003 and should be totally re-designed.

thanks for the replies guys.
so mid to late 2003? i think i should just get the rtr now and once i get better, i can just get the new model next year. i still dont know if i should get the ntc3 instead of the gt4 though cuz the ntc3 is a little cheaper in price. what u guys think?

Hi Guys,
I've asked Yokomo USA several times about a possible new nitro car, and they said no new nitro cars anytime soon. They have other project that's due out mid 2003, but it won't be a nitro car. They just released several key hop-ups to enhance the performance of the GT-4 even more, so I personally don't think they'll release another car soon.

Nope. All wrong. The new Yokomo being released is called the Sonic and it is 1:24th scale. After that they are finishing off the new MR4. No 200m IC for a while, just a couple of major updates to the existing chassis.

Hi Guys,
Modellor is right! There are a few refinements to the GT-4 coming, but NO new nitro TC kit. I did hear something about a micro kit and a new ELECTRIC TC in the works. But nothing has been confirmed yet

I noticed on the Yokomo site just now that there is a new version of the GT4 out. The GT4S... it seems you can get just the chassis kit or a kit that includes the RBX12 engine. Here are the new updates included in the kit.
Included: New Shoe-Type 2-Speed Transmission, New Compact Centax-Type Clutch, New Low-Friction Aluminum Shocks, Front Universals, Front & Rear Aluminum Shock Towers, One-Way Diff, Front & Rear Sway Bars, Belt Tensioner, Mounted Foam Tires.
The GT4S-RB includes the same as above with the additon of:
Included: RB X12 engine, RB Air Cleaner, YOKOMO Black In-Line Tuned Pipe set
I dont own a GT4 myself, but I've always got the impression that its an under-appreciated car for some reason.

Yeah, the GT4S is basically a GT4R with the new 2-speed gearbox and centax clutch. I am not sure but they do not mention a rear solid axle so maybe it will include a rear diff instead. Time will tell. I personally prefer running solid axles front and rear with foam. Far faster if you know how to drive it and understand the theory of overdrive.
