Body shell painting

Hi guys :batman:

Hey just wondering about 1/8 body shell painting. I recently painted my Bittydesign Monza L8 body shell for my Mrx-5. I painted it Matt Black. I noticed recently that bits of paint are coming off and getting air under some areas of paint. They weren't there before and so just wondering if i was meant to spray clear coat over it after painting?? I also haven't actually used it yet and thats also what worries me.

Thank you

What did you paint it with? And did you paint on the outside or inside of the body.

They are meant to be painted with Polycarbonate paint and from the inside.

Yes painted from inside. I used Tamiya color for plastics.....? I am not new to rc but painting i really am. I used isopropyl alcohol to clean it with prior. Any help with a good body cleaning brand and paint if i have the wrong one?

Thanks

Yeah Tamiya has two sets of Paints, TS and PS.

TS is for hard plastics such as ABS bodies etc. PS is for Polycarbonate.

Look on your can and see which it may be. If TS, then it will not adhere correctly. If its PS, it could be from the prep.

With Tamiya PS Paints, I usually clean the body really good with dish soap and water, at least twice. then I basically blow the water left from rinsing out, and then let it airdry prior to painting. This has never failed when using the spray can paints, for myself.

Oh crap!!! I noticed TS on my can straight away..... Ok can i try and remove all the paint and start over with the correct paint (PS), and how do i do that?? Shit, well that sucks lol

the way you do that is, use that body for practice and get another body and paint it with the correct paint ;)
