Default NEED HELP!!! Mugen MGT7 Setup

I am getting into on road racing and just purchased a Mugen MGT7 Nitro 1/8 Scale Kit. I am needing to know what kind of tires are best to run a road course and what motors to look at etc. Just setups that are recommended. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sweep, SP or GRP for tires. I use mostly use GRPs, in S2 or S3 compound. Haven't tried Sweeps because they aren't available, but I hear they're great. Regarding the engine, any GT specific engine is great. Now you're good to go

Sweep tires are the go to. 40's for cool low grip conditions. 45's or 50's for warm mid/high traction conditions. I've tried GRP several times in the past but are not a match for Sweep.

GRP rubber is really weird and marbles up on the surface of the tire. Personally I don't like them Arrowmax tires are also good and very similar to sweep compound.

The only GRP tire I've found to be any good is the S1 treaded compound for use on very wet conditions.

I was going to try that and Tim Long told me at the KOPropo in L.A. it doesn't work. The 44T ring gear in the diff needs the 12T. I actually bought a 13T before he gave me the info that was the wrong move. You'd have to use the 'truggy/buggy' ring gear and it doesn't benefit the on road MGT7.

Tim's phone number at Mugen is at the top of this thread.

I have been using the 13t diff' pinion for over a year now, with the 42t ring gear.
Its only good for the bigger tracks and anything less needs the 44T ring gear with the 13t pinion.

This combination seams ok for most all tracks but for best acceleration and tighter tracks. The 12t pinion with 42t or 44t ring is the way to go.
I have never actually tried the 12t with the 44t ring??! .......

Regards
