Default Nitro TC3 & Mugen MT-12

Hey guys, I'm having a problem with my car. I have a NTC3 and a Mugen MT-12.

Problem. Car keeps dying at mid to high throttle.

Does anyone know any good default settings I can start from to get my car tuned?

Or does anyone know of a good site that has information on tutoring.

www.parisracing.com

They have awesome tuning tips for picco and nova rossi motors. Look for tuning tips on the Nova Rossi CX-12 carbs. They have other good info on glow plugs and fuel. Hope this helps.

Good default setting for the MT-12

High - 5 turns out
Mid - flush or just slightly in
Low - 2 1/2 turns out

Your high end needlt is too lean. ....richen it up and look at for a thin blue smoke trail and monitor the temp if you can.

I have the rotary carb.

I do not have the Middle setting on the carb.

The only settings i have as of now is.

High Speed - 4 Turns out
Low Speed - Flush then 3 1/2 Turns In
Idle .5mm openning

Are these good starting points?

P.S. Thanks.. I figured that out last night that the high speed was too lean! Then I set back to the defaults. I mixed up the high speed and the low speed.

I dont' know about measuring from "flush" to "In" - I've always gone from in to out. . .double double, please. . .never mind.

That said, I also don't know about the rotary carb. I assume the high end would be the same and I think that 2 1/2 out should still work okay.

My RB's used to give me fits....in ANY of my touring cars(including 2 tc3's)..the best thing I've ever read was this..when you tune your engine, put it back to default settings..(and the 5 turns on top,2 1/2 on bottom is a good place to start)....and then get the car going at MID speed, and THEN punch it to top speed..this way you're not being affectted by the lower needle settings....''whe3n you've adjusted the top end needle so you get smooth acceleration and a thin trail of smoke, then you can do the idle stuff.....let it sit for 10 seconds and punch it....revs up and dies to lean....sputters and dies to rich....

as soon as I got the hang of this, every one of my RB's ran great.....

Hey, Those tips and tricks worked like a charm! Thanks a lot..

One more thing. I can't seem to hear the 2 speed shift. How can i know when my NTC3 shifts? I know how to adjust the two speed, only thing is I don't know when it's shifting at the moment!

Any ideas?

start at the default settings, and make sure you adjust both screws equally...I paint one of the #'s with red nail polish(on teh shoes)..this way I nkow which one I've done w/o squinting at the 1 or 2......trust me,you'll hear it shift..make sure the engine is fully warmed up,and running clean up teh powreband....if its choking,or not pulling strong,it won't shift...

do it with npo back ground noise around....start ate default....the car is fast if its stuck in first, thats the problem....but I'll tell you thsi..I have the RB.....in your car winds out in 30 to fourty ft,its in first......adjust accordingly....if its still winding out after 70 ft,its stuck in second......again,adjust..you'll get it....

it will all be worth it..seeing that car hit second and take off is like getting your first kiss
