Default G4RS Virgin Race..

G4RS virgin Race

i run G4RS in today..
korea weather temperature was about -2C ~ 5C.
i did race G4RS with almost normal setup.
But it did not good for me.

so i changed downstop, shock spring, shock postion, rear knuckle arm upper shim.
and i found good setup(about 80%~90%)

i will try other diff setup in next run
(normal diff front 30000, rear 10000 made feel push understeer)

i found several difference against to G4S

1) G4RS had more roll, fast roll speed
2) G4RS had more stability
3) TM spring was good at G4RS

i tried this setup in today.

front diff 30000 rear diff 10000
front spring TM 1.6, rear spring TM 1.7 (600wt oil, 2 X 1.1 hole)
front/rear downstop: 1/3
rear knuckle-arm upper shim: 4mm
wheel base: max shorten
rear toe-in: 2.5 front toe-out: 1
front camber: 2.5 rear camber: 4
front width:198 rear width:200
front stebil: 0, rear stebil: 45
tire: front/rear all 37
front shock positon: the first from the bottom
rear shock positon: the third from the bottom
Body: Sturatus 3.1

Hi gansei,

Good work Our weather is too bad to do anything !

If you dont have too much track grip I would suggest having bigger holes in your shock pistons, or maybe thinner oil.

Also on the rear camber link, maybe you could try 2 shims on the hub, with the inside in the middle inside hole. I think you will be able to run less rear camber to get the tyre wearing nice. Putting more weight on more of the tyre.

Do you mean having the wheelbase short front and rear ? If so I think this is very short, maybe a little more tricky to get the car balanced with the shortest wheelbase ?

Good luck

thanks for your advices

i will try some other setting.

i have a question about wheelbase.

i tried all short front/rear wheelbase.

i want to know what difference of front only short wheelbase and

rear only short wheelbase.

Default rear loose?

hi,
i'm not driving the RS but would like to to ask:

whenever i turn my steering for a bend during high speed, the rear would slide alittle (abit too much for my liking ); any suggestions to get the rears grip more?

my setup: (low-medium traction big track)
37 tires frt and rear
600wt frt shocks, 500 rear; with same tension springs
frt solid, rear 20k diff (how to counter understeer for frt solid during off power?)
frt shocks more inclined than rear (more upright)

cheers

p.s. what does it mean when someone said his car is 'pushing'?

Hi gansei,

Short fr wheelbase, I found that gave more steering/rotation on corner exit (after apex) I dont think our car needs any more of this !, with shorter rear more steering/rotation for the turn in to the apex. For me I just try to use use the rear at its shortest.

keavze,

You could try the rear shocks layed down more, this should give the car a safer feel.

Pushing, means understeer, the car does not have enough steering so the rear 'pushes' the front. Usually nice and easy to drive though

Good Luck.

Hello Gansei or anybody knowledgeable builder on the g4rs. Have you experience the rear camber links pivot balls fitting to way tight on the plastic ball ends? What to do?

Please help.

Yes i have built one and yes the rear links were a little tight on mine. Grab a pair of pliers and squeeze the ball ends gently. Works a treat.

old 69 Thank you very much, I was going to tell my customer that but I wanted to make sure that he had the correct parts that matched first. I still don't think you should have to do that, but you never know... He had called on the phone so I did not see the parts in hand. He had called one of the new US distributor and they told him to but oil on it. WRONG ANSWER I told him, it will not work.

thanks again
