Round 5 here in WA has been and gone - Unfortunately, this was the day the drought broke.

We got two rounds of qualifying in. I managed to be fastest in both rounds, but it was all for naught when the rain fell. I was however happy with my lap times considering the traffic that had to be negotiated today. I managed a 16.3 second lap which is about 2 tenths faster than I've been this year. Car setup with the diff is really starting to come along.

In the first qualifyer I think I was on for a low 18 laps run when I lost at least 10 - 12 seconds after colliding with a backmarker and ending on the grass (that lap was a 28 second lap) so that first run could have been fast. The second run was hampered again by traffic with no way to get a clean run. That's the way it goes though and I was very happy with my car's performance. I was able to get more used to negotiating the traffic and still get a decent qualifyer in.

The trouble with getting rained out is it's another 3 weeks to the next round. We need more tracks in Perth I reckon!! he he.

Yes round 5 washed out
i was running the IDM EVO 2 today. and shorter wheel base, played with EXPO on steering servos to try and speed them up as well.
everything was going ok till i leaned the motor a bit to get temp, and 2 speed played up. seemed to not be able to hold 1st gear for long enough. i think the 3rd round i would have had the 2 speed working well, and lap times would have come down as a result. motor started to bog down as a result. so i was very happy with the car and the motor, and just 2 seconds off ZOOM's pace.
the field was split, so we both had traffic to contend with as well.
so impressed by the IDM motor and changes i have made, was still learning the changes in the way the car handled and the faster response of the steering. so Forward i move again, just love this car gets better every weekend

i have never run a LL3, i use an LS3. the IDM today had way more bottom end than the LS3, hence why i had 2 speed issues, just needed more time to set it correctly. the IDM was very quick off the line, but the power was very smooth, and pulled hard from start all the way to the top. tuning was a breeze, but i hadnt got it quite to a race tune yet. i hear the IDM EVO 3 has more mid and top end, while i hope still carries the bottom end as the EVO 2 has. i will find out soon enough and if your LL3 is still going for the SA titles in May, you can see first hand how the EVO 3 IDM goes around your track

on the 2 speed issue, and i know ZOOM said he runs the older mongoose 2 speed springs, but is there an option for harder springs to run for the 2 speed adjusting screws ? i find that i have to shorten the screws some more and there isnt alot of bite left in another new set of shoes. it would almost seem my springs are binding in the 2 speed so i cant get enough tension on the shoes to hold 1st gear or at least tune the adjustment. seems the new engines coming out now have an a lot of bottom end, and the springs in mine are binding.

Hi Patto,
On the two speed shoes. I believe there are balck springs now that come in the set when you buy them. They are stiffer then stock.
I have never had them so not first hand info although I was going to ask Sam the same question.

Yeah....that's right. He mentioned that didn't he. He really does want that motor out there. I think he's very excited about this one. So am I !

You have the EVO 2 so you know first hand how good that is. You'll also be in the perfect position to see the differences!

The 12-3CT Sam got me is just great. Typical Nova, just so tight ! Taking tons of uel to break that pinch and get her broken in. But the power you can feel is just awsome. Just a caged Cheetah, dying to be let out the rich prison!

I feel a little phylosophical, or is it lyrical?
Going to throw some more fuel through her today and lean her out a little more. I', still running with the tinfoil on to keep the temp's up. But may nead to take that off today. We're actually hitting 60 degrees today !!! Wonders will never seese !!

Default kawahara cup result.

i joined kawahara cup on today.

Furukawa Ken racer is IFMAR A-main Driver.

he is my best rival in today race.

his engine is good.. and clutch also is good.

But my engine's torque feeling is rather dull.

and my G4S was going more and more slow in long race.

maybe.. my engine go high rpm about 30 seconds in yesterday no-control crash.

so.. my engine's health is not good.

and.. i did not have spektrum trouble in today.

i think specktrum board split by viration is new spektrum bug.

my friend's spektrum had same problem in spektrum.

My Speed Shot Front Bulkhead was broken by crash in yesterday.

so i changed to normal(Stock) Front Bulkhead.

after this change.. my G4S suffered by overgrip (front roll increased)

But i had no time to search proper setup in yesterday.

I got 2nd position in Heat 1,2,3

Furukawa Ken got TQ.

i did overface in A-main Final to catch up Furukawa Ken.

But.. my engine flame out 3 times..

so i finished the race in 5th rank.

i very miss this race..

But i admit the difference of rc talent(Ken)

this is a A-man Final Movie

it was very very fun and exciting!!

Well the G4S has been ordered and paid for!!

What servos are people using in this car? I am thinking I will hold off on the ED transmission unless it is really necessary. I need the car to be more durable over high performance for the time being until I learn to drive it and not crash so much.

Thanks for any info you can provide.

John

durability over performance ? that mean a full stock car out of box.
G4S is very durable. you just need to set up the car right.
