I just got g4 and I was wondering if any one can explain to me when you use the rear solid axle and with what front axle combination ( one-way, solid axle or diff)
is it better to use front solid axle or diff or both?

On the subject of the brake disk, it really isn't that unusual for the disk to be really close to the carb. In fact, on every nitro car I have had, it was neccesary to turn the carb slightly to aviod the disk.

Reflex- check
R40-check
Mongoose-check
G4s- check

It seems that unless your engine has a really small carb, then you'll just have to turn it to avoid the disk. Its never be a problem, and often times, to get a good angle with servo rod, turning the carb is neccesary anyway, so it all seems to work out.

Hey asw7576:

Is that Team Magic's Lola body front bumper kit that you have mounted up on your car?

Well this was my first race day since I converted my Mongoose to G4s specs.

Fastest in all three qualifiers, A-main TQ, and 2nd in the A-main only 1.7sec down to one of best local guys is pretty good for the first race out with it.

One problem though... A problem that may have kept me from getting the win.

BRAKE FADE!!!

I'm not just talking about brake fade during a race, I'm talking about brake fade throughout the whole race day. By the end of the day, I had added 10 'clicks' of travel to my brake ATL, just to get anywhere near the braking I started the day with.

Each heat race was a little worse than the next, and by the main, I had no confidence in the braking of the car and it really messed with my prefered racing line.

I believe the culprit is probably heat causing fading during the race, and that carrying over and causing extra wear on the pads. Question is, how do I solve this? I'm considering adding some lightweight springs between the plates similar to what Kfactory uses on their ultimate brake pads to make sure that there is no unwanted brake rubbing.

But the first thing I think I want to try is this Kfactory G4 Lightweight vented brake disc. If someone has tried one of these, can you tell me if there was any improvement over the stock disc as far as fading goes.

I've also heard that carbon fiber disc are great at avoiding brake fade, so is there one of those for the G4 series?

You mean these G4 Real Racing Brake Pads

For $27+shipping(Raceday Hobbies), I would hope "thats all I need".

So no new brake disc needed, just those?...okay, I'm willing to to try it if it means no more brake fade.

Yes, use very thin springs in between the plates and slightly move forward the brake lever for more bite feeling.

Motorman : Can you ask team magic to make harder plastic for spur gears ? Another improvement is 4mm thick alluminium brace on the spur gear side to fully cover the main shaft bearing. ( make thin at bottom side so it still fit to lower chassis ).

Yesterday race, 4 winners with G4S : A2,A3, B1,B2

Default UK Nationals

Quick update,

Just had our latest national at the ultra fast Tibshelf circuit, and although we struggled a little in qualifying (2nd & 3rd !) I managed to win the A final by a couple of laps, so out of 6 rounds, G4S has won 5 & taken 3 TQ's, this is all on very different styles of tracks.

Our next race is at the European Championships at Heemstede in Holland, so lets all hope for a good result there at sepent's home track !!

Team Phenix drivers Brian Berry and Bobby Flack qualified 1 and 2 at the Midwest Series Chicago race this weekend and finished in the same respective order. Congrats to Brian and Bobby.
Brian finished 3 laps up.

ASW are you using the new black gears?
Razzor: Having some axial teething pains, the construction is great I just need to get it to run like I want it to.
