JJ187RC,
The measurement in the instructions is too hard. It has 9.2mm when it should be 8.8 to 8.2mm.
Iím running a modify clutch shoe in my clutch that gives you a snapper response and less fade. I cut the yellow clutch shoe to replace the black shoe. The black shoes have the holes for the pins on the side of the shoe. That doesnít make those shoes ďthrow outĒ properly. It makes them swing out not throw out to the clutch bell. With the yellow shoes I made the holes for the pin in the middle of the shoe. That allows the shoe to throw out faster and more efficiency. Also Iím using the red shoe for the engaging shoe for less fade when engage. Itís a better matrial then the stock yellow shoe.
Iíll post a picture of the shoes tonight when I get home.

InitialD can you post the write up form MYTSN on modify clutch shoes?

DSR,
The snap ring goes inside the diff (#801432 axle long) to hold in the trust bearing. Yes, put a light coat of grease on the trust bearing and don't for get on the balls on the steel washers!!

Thanks. I have been trying to get some more bottom end out of my car and I figured it was in the clutch setup is where it was missing. A picture would be great, I might have to try and have one modified for myself by the race the weekend. Are you coming up to Dallas this weekend?

Punisher! Give credit to the F-Man and not yourself! You don't have a clue until I explained it to you!

As long as it works I am happy, I just need more punch out of the corners.

Speaking of the clutch, how do you adjust the clutch to not be so snappy out of the corners? Difficult to drive on low traction tracks.

Have you tried loosening the rear diff a bit?

Yes, loosening the rear diff helps. You can also use a one size larger pinion for the 1st gear or smaller 1st gear spur to smoothen out the accelleration. Reducing 1st gear spur has a more refined effect unlike changing to larger pinions.

Smaller gap between the clutch bell and clutch shoe (stock is 0.7 mm) also helps to soften the punch. A looser spring tension also helps to ease out the punch (i.e. reduce the stock distance from 9.2 mm to something lower).
