Has anyone here ever yanked the new FC steering blocks off of the pivot balls. I raced in a big race near Atlanta this past weekend, and, on a slight hit in the A-main, it did this. I was able to pop it back on and run the remaining 30 minutes, though, finishing 6th.

I would have never beat Barry Baker anyways .

Cool

Yes, the FC steering has a bigger hole for the pivot ball that allows it to pop off easily.
The good thing about that is what you mention you can pop it back in place then cracking them. However, the more times you yanked off the FC steering blocks the better chance of them not being reused because of the opening.

I damaged my 705 for the first time practicing on the track last night...its an asphalt track with pvc and coupled together. Going down the back straight at full speed I took the first right hand sweeper a little too tight and made contact with my front right wheel with a coupler which went the wheel/upper arm flying Broke the upper arm, pulled the lower ball through the knuckle and at the same time cracked the knuckle due to the lower ball being pulled from it. Boy was that a show stopper Darn me trying to get the perfect line I gotta learn to take that section a little wider, the same thing happened to my xray earlier in the season. Car was running like a top though.

Yup, I had this experience before when I first tried the new FC steering blocks... Are you using these steering blocks with the correct pivot balls? The reason I'm asking is because the problem arose when I used the stock pivot balls with the new FC steering blocks. Since I changed to the new aluminum shortened pivot balls (801219), it was less of a problem. I only remembered the steering block coming off once after 5 months of use.

Engine and front end rebuild? What an excuse...

If you have an extra body post, do a 5th body post on the upper bumper plate holder just in between the front shocks and the upper radio tray while you're rebuilding the front end.

Ok..guys!! after years and years....of Serpent fan....now that I have (2) 705.......I decided to switch brand!! ... Almost every race...I have to have some kind of problem with the car...seem like I dont have any luck at all. ....also...with the price and parts avalibilty...and the new car every year...seem to make want to spend more $$$ ...witch..I moslt likely will... LOL... any how... This new car that I run for the 1st time...yesterday.. brought me 2nd place in 30Min A main. At my Local Race track (nice trophy event race www.wnyrcinfo.com )...so now I decided to leave Serpent for now.

Good luck to you all.

GOOD LUCK superk!

Hey D,
I took some pics of the s-705 4mm chassis but need to get them from Nizee that took them with his camera. Also I didnít take them before I ran it so it has some scares.
The chassis doses make the car more ridged.....had to take off the sway bars for a very loose track.

Are you guys still at the other's throats?

Nizee, would you be so kind enough to post them please?

Well, nevermind them. Post them anyways. I like to compare with the 4 mm one I got. The sides look like it does not have more chamfers like the original Serpent one. The air holes has a lot of chamfer for air cooling and the front is made more rigid. I'll post pics of it and try to weight it as well.

Thanks for the tip. I'll keep that in mind when I fit mine on. For the moment, I don't have any reason to fit it on as the stock one still works fine <knock on wood>.

I had to replace mine recently after I hit a spotter (ouch). Unfortunately, only a 3mm chassis was available.

Arun, where did you break yours? At the front tip where the 1st screw locks onto the front bulkhead? Perhaps you had the 1st version of the 3 mm chassis which does not have reinforcements at the front.

Can't wait for Friday to post pics of the 4 mm chassis.

RM 230 or approx USD 60. It's not the original Serpent 4 mm chassis though.

Any shops in town selling it already? How much?
