Unless you are playing R/C rockets in space , oxidization will happen. Doesn't matter how you charge the batteries, it will fail eventually, most likely in 4 to 5 years, but not 16 years. Just my thought.

It is not call "Oxidization". Physic and Electronics term call it "Crystalization". The catalyse is the, Voltage, current and air at the same time. When voltage and current flows, those separator create like a "capacitance" effect, which in turn creating crystaline to develop across each other electrodes slowly in terms of micron. This also call CAF effect amount the PCB engineer are facing problem today for designing high density multilayer fine pitch BGA.There is a chance the battery will last that long with the folowing scenario:-
1) The applied voltage drawn from it or the charge is low.
2) The applied current drawn from it or the charge is low.
3) He or She do not use it regularly.
4) Keep the charge rate at normal discharge stage not Full charge.
5) Low humidity places.

Hope that helps.

I went through that and I thought I would just share what could happen if you mess up with things. As you know, the what if situations can come when you do not need them the most. Shit happens. Just sharing my personal experience.

If I underestimated supra528's capabilities, my apologies. For all we know, he may have a job like what nizee is having... Doing soldering work for a living If he's just daring enough to want to try it out and solder the pack for himself, why not. My advise is open. If you want it, take it. If you feel it's ridiculous, then just ignore. I won't take heart to that.

supra, if you can get the AAA batteries separate, you could probbaly find some LHS near you that you could ask them do solder and shrink wrap the pack for a small fee. You also need to get the plug connector to connect it to the receiver. That depends on what type of Tx/Rx radio you're gonna get. I believe you can get GP batteries that are 800 mAH. Sanyo ones are 750 mAH max.

For people who know how to do it, it's pretty simple and does not take more than 15 minutes. Even faster for those who have spot welding equipment

If you want it premade, I believe you can get it at Ashford Hobbies. Part number is 801173. This receiver pack is specifically for the Serpent 705 and the Serpent 835. It already comes with the plug connector and but it's only 730 mAH. Else if that is not available, you can get part number 1692 which consists of 5 AAA batteries (750 mAH), a piece of wire for soldering connection and a heat shrink wrap. You need to solder these separately.
