Can't agree more. The Tweakstation is invaluable especially when running a one way front diff.

InitialD, Thanks for the heads up on the hollow 2 speed shaft. I assume that Serpent will come out with a new hollow shaft later to fit the 705.

Hellbent, I have ordered from StormerHobbies.com and SpeedTechRC.com also. No complaints with either.

Pit-Racer

Where will you be racing your 705?

Also has anyone had problems with the plastic battery mount for the front of the battery?

That one breaks easy apparently. What some people have done is to get the plastic mountings / spacers for servos that comes with the kit to replace it.

I haven't had the chance to mount the batteries yet.

I race in Austin,Tx. and yes the battery mount where the screws go in are quite fragile.

Default Shortcomings in the Package (FWIW)

Anybody else noticed this?

Exhaust mounting spring is not provided as in the pictures. Instead the normal exhaust mounting wire is provided.

The ball diff provided is not the same material as the one which was existing from Impact. Black versus bronze colour. I believe the one from Impact will last longer because of better material used?

Rear belt is not the thick 6361 belt. It is still the normal thin 4mm belt 801255.

The rear body mounting is now the same carbon graphite material as the radio plate and not as pictured. The one in the kit uses only allen button head screw to mount the carbon graphite strip whereas the one currently existing as well as the one in the pictures shows that the carbon graphite strip is mounted with a phillips screw together with the same conical aluminum washers that is used on the bottom of the engine mounting screws.

Default Serpent Model #s

Sorry, I'm bored... but I was wondering if Serpent posted the significance of their kit model numbers: 950, 835, and 705...

Because the most common platinum used in common jewelry is Platinum 950 (signifies 95% purity : 950 parts out of 1000).. the most common silver used, Sterling Silver is designated Silver 835... but I've never come across a common metal designated with a 705 except for Zirconium 705 but that seems out of place... so I guess the theme was:

Serpent Platinum
Serpent Silver
Serpent Zirconium??

Yeah, I'm really bored...

I like to thanks Mike and Pit for making my decision easier in choice of Nitro car, after watching and meeting them at the race.

I got myself a Serpent 705 yesterday!!!

Now i'm trying to decide which Engine to buy. Any recommendation? Not something fast and hard to tune, but something moderate and easy to tune.

nizee: the O.S. .12 TR might be just what your looking for. They have a great rep for being easy to tune and its fast. Not as fast as a moded MT12 engine! But fast enough.

Pit,

I wish i can find the Serpent Puple Logo to put on the kitty neck, but it wasn't.

Currently I'll be using my Helicopter controller, with 10 channel receiver to hook the serpent up, since i got extras. Yeah i know its overkill, but i've to wait till mid of February to purchase my car controller in Singapore (its cheaper there) when i fly there for business.

I'll try to assemble it by Saturday (without engine) and bring it to the race to get some advice from you on any mistake i make during assemble and set-up.

PS : The kitty doesn't come with the Kit She just happen to be there when i hold the camera.

Are there any other manufacturers out there besides HUDY for their set-up stations? The clear lucite w/ etched measurements is a pain to read...
