Default PROTOform C6-R Vette

I sure wish ROAR and IFMAR etc. had a GT1 class for 200mm gas. I just think it would be awsome to see Aston Martin DB9's, Saleen S7's and C6-R's racing together. It sure would relate more to what's seen on Speed TV ever weekend too.

Well,

If your company, along with the others keep pushing IFMAR and ROAR, it might happen. Just like Serpent kept pushing and ROAR eventually changed the rules to allow turbo plug .12 motors to be used, it could happen. Are there any other bodies coming down the pipe for the 200mm cars?

AMEN, BROTHER DALE!!!

It kills me that we race 4 door cars that no one cares about, rather than sports cars that we dream of owning. The 4 door rule is a throwback to when touring car first started and we were trying to keep the cars slow and cheap. So much for that idea! I've been fighting for a while now to change the body rules in an effort to get more people involved with racing. A person watching a race for the first time isn't going to care about a race between a Stratus and a Mazda 6. But if it's a Vette against a Viper, now that's worth watching.

The only problem would be the handling of these bodies. Dale you've mentioned before how some real cars just don't work well as RC bodies. Is it possible to get GT bodies to work? Would there have to be other changes to the rules like the windshield hole size (currently 50mm)?

The engine rule change was pushed by all the engine manufacturers, as well as many racers. Taper seat plugs (aka turbo plugs) are easier to work with, no gasket, and offer no performance advantage over flat seat plugs.

I think that allowing GT1 bodies would be awsome. The TCs are getting kinda old for me, and the lolas never took off. GT1s look great, and theres several different ones. I tried a saleen on my car once, and they handle great.

Maybe we should keep this tread up, and that might make ROAR listen.

That bodie looks great!

I'd love to see a GT1 class.

It starts at the club level, get every body to run them and the rest will follow. I ran a hpi gt911 and it worked great, so great that the sedan guys cryed about it and I ended up having to ron sedan. that vet does look sweet, going to have to get one of those.

What Series

Greenbox: Actually, Lola has built cars for the "modern era" GTP class, but the Lolas that are generally discussed and referred to in RC racing (especially 1/8th) are loosely based on the age-old open cockpit CanAm Series design. These were low-tech (by todays standards) big-block brutes that ran from the early 60's to the early 80's. Some of the best sounding cars in the history of motorsports IMPO.
The Porsche 962 was a closed cockpit car that in fact had 2 doors.
