Default Serpent help

Hello Friendly People!

A friend of mine just gave me an old Serpent car which was hidden in his storeroom for years. He doesn't even remember which model it is.

Would any of you kind souls be able to help me identify the car? It's a 2WD car, 2speeds and it came with a Novarossi CX15 engine.

The front bulkhead looks like it is able to accomodate a front gearbox in it. Can this mystery car (to me) be converted to a 4WD? Any updates that can be performed to this oldie but hopefully goodie?

Attached are some pics I took with my cellphone. Please advise.

Regards,

Alan

Hi,

The car is a Serpent impact. The very first 235mm car. It should be from around 1993 1994. From 1995 the Impact2 was released.

Conversion to 4wd is not possible. There was a conversion made in Japan in 1994 but I would say it's impossible to track that down. The reason it looks like there is room for a front diff is because the car was made using parts from the serpent 6000 (sprint) series. A 1/8th 4wd car.

For sure the tank in your car is not original. This looks like a 125cc 1/8th tank.
I'm afraid finding parts for the car will not be easy. Even at Serpent I don't think there is much left...

Thanks for the info Julius.

Since the car is of that age I guess, I'll just run it as it is for a while till I save up enough money for something more current.

The tank is definitely oversized. The top deck was cut to make room for the 1/8 tank. The car is missing some shocks. Any shocks will fit right?

Lengthwise all serpent shocks should fit. But You'll need to fiddle a bit to mount them. Especially in the rear where they originally mount over notches on the rear bulkhead and over the lower outer pivotpins.
