HPI Nitro Racing Clutch vs. HPI Nitro Rush clutch?
My RS4 3 Evo+ has a 2-shoe flywheel, and there isn't a 3-shoe flywheel that is a drop-in replacement for it. (as far as I know. If you know of one, please tell me!) The stock clutch shoes are basically garbage, and a leaking clutch-bell bearing sealed their fate when it sprayed grease all over the inside of the clutch bell, causing significant premature wear on the stock clutch shoes. So fine, I don't have a problem with replacing the clutch shoes, now that the bearings have spun-out all their excess grease.
I have two options that I know of: I can use the HPI Racing Clutch, which is listed as an upgrade part for basically every HPI nitro vehicle that comes with a 2-shoe flywheel, or I can use some beefier clutch shoes for the old HPI Nitro Rush that I tracked down online. In my mind, the Nitro Rush clutch shoes should work better, because they have a more substantial contact patch, the contact patch is cut to fit the size of the clutch bell unlike the Racing Clutch is, and it uses individual springs per shoe instead of a single wraparound spring.
So...opinions? I know the easiest answer is "just try both of them and see which one you like better", or "if you think one is better then just use it", but I'd like to know if there are any technical considerations and/or firsthand experience that one clutch setup is actually better than another. Honestly, I lack the experience to be able to notice anything but the most significant differences for myself.
Here's a picture of the two clutch setups side-by-side, for reference:
